After the discussions we have here, I have been listening to a lot of old songs. Saving a few which I think I can use later. We had such good songs in the past. Now mostly its noise. And when we talk female playback singers there's hardly anyone. Hardly any female centric songs come out these days. I am not talking Kakkar or Bhanushali.

I've always liked Raj Babbar. Strangely

the movies I have watched of his have him in grey shade. My first introduction to him was movie Nikaah. Dil ke arman ansuon mein movie. The other one that I remember is Sansar. He was a miserly man there and had no respect for family.

Aitbaar songs are remembered from the Chitrahaar days. I think I've heard the song you posted, but can't remember hearing about the movie!!

There is no comparison with songs of yore. I think the importance of music in our movies have come down now. Earlier I guess it was used as a narrative device. Its not the same now, its more a marketing tool. So the voices are also different, not the classic playback voices.

We were supposed to go to bed early at that time and no TV, so I would cluelessly look between factions as they quarelled for their favourites. 😆

Agree about marketing tool! Mediocore, crappy songs getting millions of views.

Old songs being rehashed and their essence killed in the process.

There are no more good lyricists also; that has a role to play in bringing down the quality of songs.

This fellow has disappeared now isn't it? Won the first Indian idol if I'm correct. It used to be really bad in comparison to sarigama those days. It's gotten better the last few seasons.

So true. Though I've to say I quite like some of the songs written by Irshad Kamil and Amitabh Bhattacharya. Also Prasoon Joshi (before the fakeeri bit him!!)😆

It was around the end of academic year, a slow day at school.. there were just 10-15 students in class, I guess! During lunch hour, some genius came up with the idea of enacting Sholay's Sharabi scene.

The Sharabi, yours truly climbed up on the paani ki tanki (the last bench near the back door of the classroom), spouting nonsense. A friend pointed behind me.. I was expecting my Basanti, so took a big swig of daaru from my water bottle and turned to find the math teacher right behind me, arms on hips, eyebrows raised! There was no way she was getting out dry from that one!! 😆

I wish aap hoti tab mujhe advice karne.. I was worried she'd detain me or something! A hairdryer sounds like a smart idea 😳

I was so glad when I passed her class.. never attempted to even look back for fear of offending her! 🙈🙈

I used to get in such pickles with teachers too.

I remember a girl had got a knitted sling bag. The teacher hadn't arrived in class yet. So I slung that pretty bag over my shoulder and started goung around the class doing Ae Bhaiyya, Ae Didi, ye baigan kitne ka lagaya, ye bhindi...bargaining...the teacher is at the door, the class has gone silent...I think oh wow I have everybody's attention...so I amp up my acting skills.

Teacher was like...why is it always you!

Yes, after an album he disappeared from the scene.

The ones who did not win these shows like Arijit and Jubin Nautiyal are actually the ones that made it big while the winners are nowhere seen or their fame fizzled out after a song or two.

What in the world is wrong with Tejas? Did Prasanna too steal one of his girlfriends?

His sense of entitlement, proprietorship wrt Kirti is stunning! He's literally flaunting her in Prasanna's face. And his insensitivity towards his young cousin is plain disgusting! 😡

But I don't really blame Kirti for much here.. she could have refused point blank, yes, but Prasanna too refused to take a polite hint. When you compare a day in the Aggarwal household and their concerns to Kirti's life, Kirti's thoughts aren't without basis!! The difference in their lives is too much for Kirti to overlook.. 😒

But I wonder if she also took out some of her anger at Nishit's words on Prasanna?

As for Nishit, who made him judge and jury over his sister's romantic life? If the accounts are anything to go by, he himself is no saint!! 🥱

Was he too waiting for Kirti the next day? Why does he call her a perpetual liar? Kirti's story of computer science and evs... is that just her perspective?

Anyway, I appreciate Nishit's efforts to comfort his sister.. 😊
