Instead, what we have been shown for a majority of those epis is Imlie pushing back against anyone trying to call her a gawaar, displaying a sense of self-confidence in her capabilities....always talking about what a powerful Imaliya she is😆.....this set her apart in the eyes of the audience from the perennially weak-minded Malini. Imlie was set up as that contrast to Malini who has immense emotional strength....which she does in many other ways....but like all human beings she does have her own fallacies and chinks in her armor.
I just wish the writers had set up this crucial transition towards exploring Imlie's self-esteem issues better.....the fact that they raised it all with Imlie labeling Adi a dhokebaaz but then never followed up on it afterwards....just quickly brushed it under the carpet with Adi revealing he's told Malini the truth and Imlie forgetting all about why she thought he betrayed her.....lol....Adi also never bothering to ask her why exactly she thought this of him.....that's where they've dropped the ball a bit writing-wise.
That said, I do feel there is still potential to explore this issue. Imlie fundamentally is a strong girl but she does have some self-esteem issues as well as a masochistic/defeatist streak about some things. At the end of the day, for all her bravado, she does have vulnerabilities she hides from everyone - even Adi. I'm remembering that scene before the press conference when Adi is telling Malini that Imlie puts on this front of how confident she is about everything but he knows she ghabraoes about some things.....and it did indeed get proven right at the press conference....Imlie was indeed nervous despite all her bravado otherwise.
So I think the upcoming track is going to test all the bravado that Imlie has established in 150+ epis....it was easier to display the bravado when her feelings were not this intense....it was easier to nibhaao the rishta when it was in her head, one-sided, without any expectations....now the stakes are higher, now she feels like she actually has something to lose vis a vis Aditya's love.....so that is why her insecurities are rising and I do hope that Adi and her talk through them. That is the fundamental beauty of their relationship.....communication. Off late, Imlie has had a tendency to hide more things from him than usual....and that is what has created many of their recent issues....yes, she likes to hide her pain/vulnerabilities but Adi has to figure out a workaround if he's going to get through to her.
Adi has fully accepted that Imlie is his soulmate.....while Imlie so far has accepted that he is her husband and she loves him.....she is yet to realize why they are soulmates. It would be nice if the upcoming explored that in some fashion beyond the endless cycle of Loservedi dramas or Didi nautankis.....if they want to address Imlie's insecurities, logically speaking they will have to address why Imlie is the right partner for Adi and not Malini....but let's see if the writers have the guts to address Didi's flaws rather than building a mandir for her daily😆.
I do agree that Adi will have his work cut out in boosting Imlie's self-worth....he has to shower her with a lot of love and positive reinforcement in the sea of maligning she will be subjected to coming up....there is scope for good scenes here if the writers give them the scope to display their emotional connect.
