Very Meaningful Symbolism in combing scene

The hair combing scene, though executed lightheartedly in nature and on the surface of it looks like an attempt at teasing and playfulness..is much more layered than that. At the depth of it I found a important symbolism representing their near future. It took 5 reruns of that scene for me to understand the significance..from my point of view.Hope you guys enjoy this perspective.

Raghav detangling and then combing Pallavi's hair represents straightening things out..resolving misunderstandings...guthi suljhana in hindi...chikulu teeyadam in telugu...Gunthle kes avarne in marathi...

Raghav will be the one to detangle issue by issue and straighten out Pallus life...

Let me start from the beginning of the scene. Raghav asks if there is any help he can offer. She needs help to straighten out her life but she does not think its his "bas ki baat". Bimar kaun hai? Baal kiske banenge? Lovely questions. The bimari here is not about chicken pox...its referring to her emotionally broken and fragile state of mind. So she is the one that has been wronged...she is the one that right now needs some answers, some truths, some straightening and some closures. Baal kiske banenge is akin to asking whose issues should we deal with first...and because she is the one badly hurt..her issues need clarity first. His issues will come later..and she will help him then. Very well written script and screenplay.!! Raghav accepts both the statements and accepts the mission to make her baal...that is mission to fix her life. When he accepts her challenge , she gives him the comb. So she has now given this responsibility to him because RR according to himself.. can do " anything" right....let's see...because fixing things is much much harder than breaking things...and RR will get a full realization of that.

So he then detangles sections of her hair..gently to ensure she is not hurt...and combs. For the most part the resolving of misunderstandings will be comfortable. But at one point her hair gets pulled and she gets a bit hurt. That denoted that Pallavi will get hurt on knowing some truths on the way ..while Raghav is resolving those knots. But Raghav will take care of her in those times.

Like her hair got all fixed and combed by the end of the scene..her life will too. She is going to make Raghav work for that and he will. All this in front of the mirror..again a perceptive setup.

Also the reference to neem leaves is very significant. Neem signifies bitter medicine that is hard to drink but flushes out toxins. Pallavi needs to know certain bitter truths ...ones that will hurt her but make her strong ..like how her Kaku and Amrita deceived her. Raghav telling her that he climbed the neem tree to get her the leaves to heal her...tells me that he will go to whatever lengths necessary to find the truths .those bitter truths will hurt him too .and let Pallavi know, so she will not suffer anymore.

His reference to Amma - that he is taking care of Pallavi for his mother...tells me that soon Pallavi will help open Amma 's eyes and heart towards her son. A lot of bitterness and angst in Raghav is due to his mother's unforgiveness for the past. She needs to know that she cannot yank him through conditions and threats..rather she is the one person to offer unconditional love that will make him a better person. Pallavi now has seen the extent of his love for his mother and will make Amma realize her mistake in keeping away from Raghav.

Also though Raghav tries to hide behind " for Amma "excuse..there are my things he is doing on his own for Pallavi...like pressing her feet or going to get the neem leaves without brushing in morning. Which signifies he puts her before himself...he already has. He just doesn't know it yet. Also there might be a day his Amma and Pallavi may disagree on something and he will still support Pallavi.

I did feel the combing scene felt out of place in the first go because I was expecting to see some angst in both of them...but what seemed like a casual romantic buiscuit scene for the viewers was infact some deep talk between them..executed lightheartedly ..perhaps to give the viewers some respite from the sad Pallavi since many episodes. After viewing it in this way I really liked it. Lovely chemistry of course Shivangi and Sai Ketan are amazing.

I am looking forward for Raghav to heal her wounds that he created in first place...with apologies, TLC, respect, and playfulness. I have loved it that both know this marriage is for real..not contract marraige nonsense..Also no matter how much Raghav has hurt her..he has never hurt her physically..no yanking push pull nonsense too like we see in other shows. Pallavi knows she is physically safe around him. She doesn't really fear his proximity..she is and should be disgusted with him bit not afraid. I am glad they are not forcing them into a room yet. She has expressed her need for space and he accepted that.

Also kudos to the team for creativity admist these hard circumstances . !

Yours is the best analysis I found for this scene. Many of the fans were unhappy with that scene but I felt that there was some deep meaning behind that scene. I have just rewatched that scene to look for any hidden meaning. And here is a perfect explanation for that scene. Lucky me and my timing .

Loved your post and frankly this is exactly the way I read the scene. It was written to work on multiple levels, not just for eye candy.

I want to add here too that we saw for once Pallavi let someone else take charge and sit back and relax/enjoy not having to worry about getting things done. Raghav will be that person for her, the one to give her much-needed respite while he gradually takes on her sorrows and burdens and leaves her feeling lighter and freer. Him removing her hair ribbon also felt symbolic to me, that she no longer needed to hide her tangled hair, rather she could rely on him to not just unentangle it (as her troubles in life) but also enable her to wear her hair down in all its beauty (let her be the real Pallavi).

Tbh I don't know why people were upset with the scene.

The scene was simple he asked her if she wanted help and he helped her. Usne people are so unhappy. Have people forgotten she was unwell and he is just trying to help her and she accepted it ki chalo kaam karo 😆

Now obviously due to SaiShi electric chemistry sabko romantic scene lag raha tha 😆

Anyways I loved your analysis. In another post also someone pointed out that Raghav is going to take the charge of the relationship and make it better. All her problems he will be there for her.

It's just like the wedding scene too where Raghav was taking the charge. And as you pointed out they really do believe in this marriage and are not like it's a deal wedding which will go off in few months.

This relationship obviously means more to him at the moment than her. RR is definitely the one putting in more efforts here. He will be the driving force in the relationship.

Remember in the first epi itself we had heard RRs view on love. He sees it as a destruction of the person who falls in love. And I see that in future for him. When Pallavi will be forced to choose between him and D fam or Mandaar maybe. He would have given so much in the relationship by then that this would be devastating for him.
