Farhad could not tell you when Pallavi and Raghav began to develop feelings for each other, but he could pinpoint the exact moment he realised it.
Whether they were aware of their own feelings or not was questionable but it became painfully obvious to Farhad. So obvious that he often wondered how he never picked up on it earlier. Being blindsided by knowing Raghav’s past would have easily allowed him to miss it but, really, there was almost no excuse.
It finally slapped him in the face when they had gone out for some outreach work for the joint venture formed by Jayati Jewels and Deshmukh Saree Emporium. That was what they were doing when, in the middle of walking towards the car, Pallavi was accidentally tackled by another fast-moving car and toppled to the ground. Raghav and Farhad had gone ahead and had almost settled down in the car.
Raghav responded quickly, immediately getting out of his seat as soon as Pallavi fell. When she showed no signs of getting up, he began moving towards the place, Farhad in tow. He gently pushed to the front of the group of people that had gathered around Pallavi. She was holding her calf, a look of discomfort on her face and Farhad could hear the alarms ringing in Raghav's mind.
He stooped down next to her, his concern apparent in the way his brow was creased. "What's wrong?"
"It seems like a sprain. I'd go check with the doctor just to be sure," one guy replied from Pallavi's other side as he examined Pallavi's ankle.
Suddenly Raghav took her arm, draped it across his shoulders, hooked his arm under her knees and proceeded to carry her bridal-style.
Pallavi immediately protested by squirming around in Raghav's grip. "Whoa, easy there. There's no need for all this. It's just a measly sprain."
"Quit moving around like that, unless you want me to drop you," Raghav said, as though she hadn't said anything. He was trying to keep a firm grip on the brunette and she wasn't making it easy for him.
"Actually, that's exactly what I want. Your chivalry is NOT appreciated, I am quite capable of getting to the doctor on my own, thank you," Pallavi said, continuing to resist.
"PALLAVI!," Raghav said, coming to an abrupt stop. The utterly serious tone of his voice was enough to get Pallavi to stop moving about and look him in the eye. A heavy silence thick with tension settled over the pair as they looked at each other.
Farhad felt as though he may as well have not existed in that moment. The quick glance he shared with the others told him that he wasn't the only one to notice. "Just let me do this for you," Raghav said, his voice taking on a low tone Farhad had never heard him speak in before.
"Fine," Pallavi grumbled, although not with much vigour. Raghav gave a short nod, cleared his throat, and the moment was over. Pallavi gripped onto Raghav a little tighter as they continued the short trek to the car.
Even though she had tilted her head into Raghav's shoulder and was trying to hide behind the curtain of her hair, Farhad didn't miss the rosy blush had spread across her cheeks as she bit her lip, trying to fight off a smile.
