Quite surprisingly, majority of the cast are Marathi in real life barring a few. I've seen Gunoji & his FIL in some old shows. Even Gangobai tatya is familiar face.
Naturally so since both serials are set in Marathi background. You have to make it look authentic. Now to portray South Indian characters TV walas don’t think they have to be authentic. They think they can getaway with knockoffs who cannot even pronounce the other language words properly. Makers think they can getaway with charecters mouthing gibberish since nobody is going to understand anyway
Even Marwari background gets stereotyped, even though it is somewhat better than what Tamilians are portrayed -- just that Rajasthani/Marwari accent is sometimes off and the typical rep that they are way too conservative is, in reality, just hogwash.Naturally so since both serials are set in Marathi background. One more show (won't name it as it is on a different channel so for the sake of IF COC) has Telugu background guy where it is nothing but a joke of that culture there. Cultural representation for certain sectors is just not correctly portrayed.
