I now have a feeling that there was a conflict between Arunita and Channel about signing up for Sony's exclusive artist rights. She earns bread and butter from regional TV dominated by Star and Zee (Sony has no presence in Bengali). This tick suggests that the differences have been sorted out and she is willing to sign on the dotted line. If my reading is correct then we may see her being highlighted much more than in the past.
This is conjecture, but things like this happen. Most contestants given IG verification become part of Sony's excusive rights for at least a year.

That verification was not by Channel (if it was after he joined IL12). The channel only verifies at Top 9 stage based on the last 3 years record. He may have been verified by other means like SMP and Nihal.
Working with Sony means that you have to pay Sony fees for every appearance that Arunita will make on Zee in future and every time she sings a jingle for Star Jalsha. That is where the shoe pinches for Bengal contestants who are reliant on these channels for earnings.
So, if Arunita fails to earn anything from Idol but has signed up as an exclusive Sony contract - her earnings from outside Sony are badly affected. Only unregulated local shows are left as Channels don't like paying fees.

No, sorry. I read a Bengali press article (some time back) that said she lends her voice to ad jingles and has also sang a few title tracks for popular Star Jalsha and other Tv shows. That's about all. She is well known in the Bengal industry and is used by some established music directors.
