OK dude since u triggered my creative juices, I actually managed to write something 😆 And this is my first ever international character and MCU fanfic. 😃

The character is Indian, but its not gonna be cringe I promise. I have written Y/N and Y/L/N but I had shortlisted on a few names, if its uncomfy for u let me know, we can give our character a name...or else u enjoy being the girl in my story 😉😆

This is part 1, I am gonna write a part 2 and please bear with me I haven't proofread, I wrote this at 2 in the morning 🤣

Part 1

Being a SHIELD agent was not as fun as SHIELD’s undercover operations. Oops, SHIELD agents and newly knighted Avenger. I was one of the many who lost their loved ones in the Blip. But instead of going rogue and committing crimes to live a better life, I chose to be of as much help as possible. It were these few good deeds that caught the eye of Natasha Romanoff and Steve Rogers. So it was not a surprise when Captain America himself had asked me privately to help Valkarie create an Asgardian army. An army that would fight the Next Greater Evil.

But your fate had something else planned for me. I ended up fighting the final battle against Thanos, fighting valiantly for the ones I loved and had grown to love and care for. I fought for Natasha, who had become my closest friend. I fought for my parents, who probably made it back after Professor Hulk un-Blipped the world. But most importantly I fought for the Universe, for all the beings who were innocent and deserved to live their life.

Alas, every battle has its casualties and losses. We lost Tony that day. A loss that would pain us for the rest of our lives. We lost Steve when he decided to leave everything behind and reunite with his love, Agent Margaret Carter. But most importantly, we lost the stability world we had created over the last five years. The world had gone rogue and all us remaining Avengers were doing our bit to stop the chaos.

Which brought us to today, an undercover operation at the Romanoff Memorial Hospital. Named after Natasha, it was one of Steve’s last requests that he had left in an envelope given to his best friend, Bucky.

Bucky. James Buchanan Barnes. Sergeant Barnes. The White Wolf. The Winter Soldier. A war hero turned assassin turned Avenger. Once the most feared man in the world (still feared by many) and now my closest associate. We had worked on two assignments already together, brought down the bad guys and enjoyed every bit of it. So it wasn’t a surprise that James, sorry Bucky, and I had become close. We would spend a lot of time, even when we weren’t working. Pizza nights, karaoke nights, coffee shops…we would hang out whenever and wherever we could.

‘Hey Gauri. Can you hear me?’ Bucky’s voice in my headset snapped me out of my thoughts.

‘Yes I can, sergeant,’ I smirked. I loved teasing him. Did I tell you we enjoyed some harmless flirting?

I heard him sigh, his voice dropping an octave, ‘Its Doctor, Gauri. And you know, I am very disappointed my intern isn’t here yet.’

‘Well sir your intern has self-assigned to Dr. Alfie Nagel. On the look for the serums.’

‘Good job Dr. Sinha,’ he let out a throaty chuckle, making my insides flutter. I tried my level best to control my blushing. ‘Report when you find something.’

‘On it Dr Barnes.’

‘Behave,’ he reprimanded me like I was a school girl. But I knew he was enjoying it as much as I was.

‘Always Dr. Barnes. I’ll report to you at lunch time.’

I made my way to Bucky’s ‘office’ (a fake one set up by SHIELD in the hospital for such assignments) with two tuna melts and cold coffee cans. I hadn’t seen the handsome soldier all day and the anxiety was kind of getting to me. Yes, I was whipped. We had spent so much time together that it was becoming impossible for me to not be around him.

Sure every girl was crazy about him, his devilishly yet vulnerably handsome face, his beautiful ocean-deep expressive eyes that held secrets of over hundred years and his statuesque build that invaded my dreams many times, turning me into a mess. But I saw beyond his physical beauty. I saw the man who had been tortured and brainwashed, made into a weapon and been used as an asset. The same man who had now lost every link to his past life and was attempting to leave the ghosts of his pasts behind in order to start afresh. And my feelings for him were growing at a rapid rate.

I stopped at my tracks, taking in the scenario inside Bucky’s office. An Attending was sitting on the table, cross-legged. She was twirling a strand of hair in her fingers and laughing at something Bucky had said. A pit grew in my stomach when I saw Bucky smile at her, using the same charm he’d use to spellbind any woman. I gritted my teeth when she ran her finger on his left bicep and he did not stop her.

‘Iski toh main…’ I barged into the office without knocking, startling both of them.

‘Dr. Sinha!’ Bucky almost yelped, looking scared of the cold look on my face. Of course the lady with him had no idea of my facial expressions, it was only a SHIELD thing.

‘Dr. Barnes. I am sorry to have interrupted you and Dr. Rojas but I was getting late and I needed to bring your lunch order.’ I almost threw his tuna melt and coffee can on the table.

‘How sweet is this! I love it when interns are dedicated! Dr. Sinha, you can join us for—’

‘Thank you Dr. Rojas,’ I interrupted her. ‘But I have some forms to take of.’ I turned to leave.

‘Uhhh Dr. Sinha, you will report to me at 6 pm,’ Bucky’s eyes were pleading, screaming its not what it looks like. Balls.

‘Sure Dr. Barnes, I’ll talk to Dr. Nagel first, if only he grants me permission to get off his case.’ Of course I was not going to meet Bucky, he had not found anything related to our operation and I knew it. All the groundwork was mine, and I think I’ll let him enjoy his own created hell-hole for now. Bucky’s shoulders slumped slightly, knowing I would not be seeing him at 6.

‘Can you tell Dr. Nagel I want the file for our joint research on my table in an hour, Dr. Sinha?’ Dr. Rojas quipped.

I opened the door, ready to leave, ‘Of course, Dr. Rojas. Marr jaa chudail…’ I muttered the last words under my breath. For the first time I was thankful Bucky did not understand Hindi.

Rushing through the corridor, feeling my heart beat in my ears, I tried to focus on the mission. I’d deal with James later…

Its an amazing start. I love how she acknowledges that she sees Bucky for who he is❤️

I like the names Aisha/Anusha/Mishti and Sabarwaal for last name. I read it as Y/N for now, but its making my brain a mush, cant handle it🤣

Lol jokes aside I wanted to go for a more traditional name...the first names I'd thought of were Shivika and Gauri...last names were Sinha and Bhardwaj. These are rare also, no one goes for them. My heart is kinda stuck on these 😆
