Dev is strange, one moment he was like... its a family trip we won’t get time to spend alone, then he goes all sweet... we will spend as much time as we can

For me Dev is not as strong as a character as Shiva or GauRa, which is GauRa + Dev falls flat somehow and does not have that kind of impact

Whereas Shiva and GauRa are three really strong, wholesome and pure characters.. and so steal the show effortlessly whenever they are together ❤️

Agree, there's something about Dev that makes him just come off as some whiny, fickle brat. Here's my small comparison between Dev and Shiva (at least from what I've seen in the episodes so far) (Note, these dialogues are an approximate because I don't have time to re-watch)

All of these points are a repeat of everything we've said so far, but I just had to let this out of my system!

Dev: "Rishita, I don't want to marry you because family means the world to me! My bhabi was hurt because of your family!"

Result: Boy ends up marrying the girl anyway. There was no reason/conversation as to why he ultimately changed. I don't know if the makers forgot to include this, or if he really is fickle minded. Even Dhara going up to him and telling him it is okay to marry Rishita as long as he loves her would've been better

Dev: "I'm your older brother."

Result: Way to state the obvious buddy! Either you were being completely ignorant/blind after your wife tried to prank you or somethin'. Literally everyone in the entire house + Hardik noticed how depressed Shiva was. When I watched GauRa's anniversary and the episode post-ShiVi marriage, even I saw how depressed Shiva was. You really think you can step on your brother's happiness like that?

Dev: "Rishita, choose only one. Me or your father!"

Result: Don't make your own wife resent you even more buddy. I'm no Rishita supporter, but she obviously went through a lot to marry you and be happy. She was never in on her father's plans, and quite honestly, she already made that choice the second she ran away. She chose YOU over her father. Instead of respecting her, you are yelling at her to choose? You really think after living with her father for that long, she's going to suddenly not like him anymore?

And that's not to mention he never said anything to stop Rishita when she was being excessive towards Raavi. Like dude, you have to be blind to not notice how miserable Raavi looks. You must've heard about her near suicide attempt. Even after all that, you only chastise your wife in closed corners?

And every time he spoke to GauRa, I couldn't help but feel he was a child. He seemed whiny with stuff like "I like Rishita, though." Or with "I am so sorry" to them but not to Shiva.

Now, we come to Shiva:

Shiva: "I'll marry the Mami Ki Behn Ki Beti"

Result: He took maybe two seconds to make this decision. He doesn't like the girl, but he respects his bhabi and his family. From the beginning, he only cared about his family's happiness, even if that meant sacrificing your own happiness. If that isn't noble, I don't know what is!

Shiva: "Her name is Raavi, and she has the same place in this family as you!"

Result: Unlike Dev who speaks in closed corners, Shiva speaks his mind in front of everyone. He has absolutely no reason to support Raavi (especially since he did not wish to marry her/their longstanding history). But he still spoke his mind. In fact, every time Rishita was being excessive, it was Shiva who stepped in to teach her

Shiva: "I really want to beat up Janardhan"

Result: As much as my boy wanted to show off his physical prowess, he listened to his bhabi's words. He understood that violence is not always the answer and instead built upon another idea that worked just as well. Shiva doesn't always have the best ideas himself. But, he listens to the people around him and attempts to make changes to improve.

I know Raavi frequently says, "His name is only Shiva, but he doesn't possess any of the traits of Shiva," but man oh man is she wrong. Shiva possesses many traits of Shiva by being the ultimate protector of his family. He's a complete softie who would grant any one of his family member's wishes. I've always loved Shiva, as a god, the most. But this Shiva gives me a whole load of new reasons to love the god Shiva!

Though, it kind of stinks to see the imbalance in the character writings. I wish every character was equally strong. Even if Dev said, "Look, I love you both, and I don't want to lose either of you," I think I would understand where he's coming from. Instead, he's just whiny who doesn't even realize the extent of sacrifices his family had done for his happiness.

Devs character needs a lot of growth

This past few episodes, I keep questioning whether Suman picked up the wrong baby from the hospital when she had Dev. He doesn't really seem to possess the qualities of a "Pandya" brother in my mind, but yes on the character growth! He needs to climb Mt. Everest before I respect him again

Nahi yaar, I do have a soft corner for Dev so I hope he does come around real soon.

I think dev is the most like his dad who got fooled by prafulla and put his entire livelihood in danger to give her that loan lol he must have been too soft hearted and also kind of a pushover lol shiva is the most like the mom and gaumbi is like a mix of both his parents but only the good parts lol krish i think is like his uncle lol but has the sense of humour like his mom lol

Spot on. My thoughts are the same, and Dev is now being extra irritating by morphing into the classic caring-boyfriend-turned-authoritative-hubby. Urgh. He should zip up and open the shutters upstairs. Only saving grace for me is chotu responsible Dev, I have a soft corner for that kid and I'm waiting to see him emerge from this confusing concoction of holiness.

the only scene where I liked him was when he had gone with Shiva to janardhan's house and bashed him up.. he seemed like a pandya brother then so i guess suman usko mandir se ya sadak se uthakar nahi layi 🤣

That's a good point. Everyone else seems to be strong like Suman but not Dev!!
