I follow law of the land both child marriage and polygamy are crimes in India therefore no support for anyone
I have come to realize that the show has managed to turn people against the Child marriage restraint act by showing the child bride as a victim of this act instead of presenting her as a beneficiary of it, most people think Bondita should remain a Child bride (Like you said in Divorce thread that you don't want them to divorce, yet here you are saying here that you want Bondita to be independent), when they could have shown Bondita and Anirudh actually being happy with first step towards end of this "Kupratha", when the show says that the man who filed a petition in court is unhappy that Child marriage is illegal and Child bride, herself is unhappy, if this is not glorification of child marriage then what is?
The show says it is against Child marriage and so far it was, suddenly they have changed their tunes
@UL - Well, good question. In the divorce thread, I have openly said it I was a Rudhita shipper. I can say it now too. So if the marriage gets annulled and this means Rudhita isn't on the cards in future, I will be pained. But NOWHERE do I have mentioned that I don't want them to divorced. I said it before and I will now say it too, if the annulment happens, I am all prepared for it. But you won't get me saying that I don't want their divorce. Instead I have said, the marriage should get annulled because of obvious reasons that I mentioned there.
And for me saying Bondita should be independent, you missed the next line. How is it possible 'now'? But it doesn't matter, right?
Now coming to you. @Bold - Well do you? Now if I say you liked a post which said nothing is wrong with the track, then? If nothing is wrong with the track, that surely means there is nothing wrong in polygamy, right? How can you say you didn't support it then?
@Italics - You are saying the man isn't happy with the abolishment law? Didn't you see the happiness in face then? And the later disappointment that came up had a reason. The same reason which is going to be the crux of this track. Anirudh had promised to stay with her all along, to support her and take her responsibility. If this "TAG" gets destroyed (mind it the tag and not a marriage relationship), it will have both pros and cons (ONLY IN THE CASE OF ANIRUDH AND BONDITA). Pros - it will give her freedom from a evil clutch and cons- it won't give the right to Anirudh to take her responsibility. It's 1920 and taking responsibility of a stranger wasn't easy. The reason why he HAD TO get married to her. That is why it had it's own cons with respect to the relation of Anirudh-Bondita, NOT for other child brides.
If you think they have changed tunes, leave it for your own peace of mind.
Child Marriage is tried under POCSO Act in India, one of the few crime where capital punishment (death) is sentenced by the Court
I don't think when you say @Bold 2 you actually understand why Child marriage is wrong, thousands of child bride die every year. Child marriage is a better alternative for women? Do you realize that young girls can't give consent therefore it is rape? You are telling me, "Rape" is a better alternative for women? Are you even thinking about what these girls have to through?
This is not even for the greater good, just for a show, child marriage is the best thing
Mentality of society is not good Today, doesn't mean we should let these young girls bear the brunt of being born in the society
Don't use society as an excuse, please
Society was against her education too, but did you say the same to protect Bondita? Don't send her to school because society will be mean to her?
Why do they want to show reforms if they are afraid of society? LOL
@Bold 1
You are supporting and giving reasons to justify child marriage
Anyway, Let it be
It's been 90+ years, no wonder Child marriage is gets the support it has in India
Nora..Whatever Saba said what with respect to that era.It was not her opinion too..She said in that era child marriage prevailed over abandoning girl child and child prostitution. It was no good
Early pregnancy complications, infant mortality, marital rape all are part of child marriage. It has to be abolished too. But here in Bondita case, she was never a victim of that only because Anirudh is no normal husband.Rare men like that existed too,I guess ..If he could be the same support to her without any name for their relation, then that if fine and good
I cannot comment on any IPC codes here because that is not my area of study..Are you a law student?
If then , you please answer what is the law's take on existing child marriages?
Because thats what we all say about. Not about the future to happen child marriages

Nora I think you are confused with the conditions of present day India and the setting of the show which is almost a 100 years ago.
POCSO act was enacted only in 2012, not in 1920s or 30s. Also according to the child marriage restraint act mentioned in the show, the legal age of girls to get married was only 14, not our present day 18. So according to present laws, the new legal age (14) will also come under child marriage and rape.
No one here is supporting or glorifying child marriage. They are just analyzing the social conditions prevalent during those times and are citing the problems girls had to face unless they have a strong and supporting family.
Just think, the progressive thinkers like Tagore did child marriage. He was 22 when he married a 11 year old girl and his first child was born when his wife was just 13. Do you think people like him was glorifying and propagating the social evil of child marriage purposely? Definitely not. What happened was at that time no one considered it as a social evil and through centuries of naturalization these bad practices became part of accepted ways of life.
Social changes need time to reflect in society. We can make a law in one day but implementing is not that easy. Legally untouchability is a criminal offense in India. But can you say in present day India we don't have untouchability or cast prejudices? Like this all changes need time
A lot of people fought hard for women's rights and as a result we got our present condition. But we all know it is not enough and we have to continue our fight for a better tomorrow.
About the show, I never felt they are glorifying child marriage. Anirudh and Bondita's marriage is not at all conventional. They showed glimpses of what could have happened to Bon if she was having a conventional child marriage. She was lucky to get the support of a person like Anirudh who keeps her away from all harm. If you follow the show, then you must have noticed that Bondita is safer with Anirudh than in her parents' house. It is not necessary that a girl's safest place always will be her parents home.
Even today court considers the conditions of the child's betterment before giving the custody of the child to someone. According to the show chances of Bondita's better and safe future is more with Anirudh than with her mother. That is why most of the viewers want to see her with Anirudh. It is in no way supporting child marriage or glorifying it.

When I don't support Child marriage, why would I think Aniruddh's "fake" marriage is polygamy?

I am not confusing anything
Domestic violence was prevalent back then even religious biggies supported it
Polygamy is legal for Muslims, though Muslim women are fighting against it
If you see Anirudh abusing Bondita, would you give this excuse of year and time to justify it?
Polygamy law came way after child marriage act that too only for Hindu marriage act, I don't recall anyone saying it is good, then why so many excuses from so many people to protect Child marriage?
Any Marriage is good if husband and wife are good, that's for every marriage, If husband is abusive then adult marriage is not good but adult marriage itself is not illegal
Child marriage is illegal regardless of good or bad husband and there's a reason for it
So if I see Anirudh abusing Bondita my reaction would be same because I know it is wrong, the time and year don't defend Domestic violence
This excuse of society and year stands same for every other Kupratha, they are in 1920, we are not, so when I see someone saying that these reforms ended up being bad for women, I am compelled to speak against such things
Everyone of you except Indira is defending that comment, why?
@Bold
You considered it polygamy, I didn't
When I don't support Child marriage, why would I think Aniruddh's "fake" marriage is polygamy?
Well, then you should not say the show promotes child marriage.
If the 'actual' marriage with Manorama is fake because he considers it a samjhota, then the actual marriage with Bondita is also not really a real marriage because Ani considers this a samjhota too. Not a problem in either of them, right?
Also please refer episode 244, timing 17:00 to 17:04 to listen to Mano and Ani's conversation where Mano says "akhir kar meri ichha puri ho ho gayi jab tumne daku ke bhes mei akar mujhse shaadi ki, sabke samne." 👍🏼
I guess I have to mention this to you - to see an episode clearly tells the reason why you didn't understood the real meaning of the show till now.

This quote is aimed at another post of yours where you expressed that you feel BB glorifyed child marriage, Girl have you watched balika Vadhu, in the episode where anadi jagdish were separated (befir the leap), they were shown to be crying badly, shown upset, so did it imply that they were supporting child marriage? No , they were just showing ki Anandi jagdish had formed a bond, a strong bond, attachment towards each other and so anyone would obviously be upset for parting, it's the same thing, anirudh is not sad coz he will have to void his marriage with bon, he is upset coz he has formed a deep attachment with her and if marriage gets void, he will have no right as a guardian on her, and if you saw the last track, it explored this only ki how child marriage has affected bonditas tender mind, till it turned into a khichdi, so the makers were presenting ki how even though you get a husband like Anirudh, who considers you a child, still child marriage is wrong and evil, so how is it promoting it?? What I feel is ki barrister babu actually deals with child marriage much better than balika Vadhu which aimed at showing child marriage bad effects, BB has explored the real issues like marital rape of child brides, so it is in no way promoting child marriage
Hello girls🤗❤️
I am back
Wow aastha...you gave perfect answer👍🏼
