Rape or Gang-rape is still a rape, a violation of girl's rights without her consent in a violent form. There's no use debating on how many did what, at the end of the day - crime is "rape".

Lets get the facts right, Sai is no longer alone in the city like the past. She could goto PD's house, if she wanted to. In our families, when we have light night weddings or such, they ask us to stay in their house - even if our house is not far away, it doesn't matter for them if one is a boy or a girl or if they have enough space to accommodate all or not. Why does everyone forget this simple fact ? Lets not even get into how many friends Sai has in the college, what's the use of friends - when they don't come in need - when you really need it.

At no point, I'm even appreciating Virat 0.01% for what he did by stranding her out in the night, facts are facts, period.

Also do calculate it with the population we have. Now tell me, how does that come to even 5% of the Indian women population, forget about 80% ?

Now, lets go into rough stats from an old census - 662.90 million female population in India.

Now, lets assume 4 rapes every 1 hour, per day - it would be 96 cases. Per year 96*365 = 35,040 cases.

662.90 million % 35,040 = ?? Does it equate to even 5 % ? According to unofficial stats more than 10 million women work in the nights, be it farmers or BPO's or nurses or etc..

JFYI, rape doesn't mean - its just violation of a woman, men are raped too though many do not come forward fearing the embarrassment they would become in a society if they report them.

Rape isn't the only form abuse a girl can face & you can't keep banging the same door, that every girl who steps out at night is bound to be raped. My answer was only related to your 80% stats.
