Not entirely true, I saw aa nice thing in him even then. A boy who wanted to be accepted by his bride with whom he was always impressed with.
He wanted her to accept him even then subconsciously in a way.

Her indifference and hatred for him bothered him and he would have liked if she was happily getting married to him 😉. If not happily, would have happy if she did not hate him.

No he was just doing his duty and at that point he was not aware consciously of his growing attractions. His focus was on setting his boundaries clear with Sai and doing right by Sai.

His head was screaming waada Pakhi but he wanted to see the approval in Sai when he put the sindoor. He didn't love her, but somewhere wanted her to accept him even though he kept telling he can never be her husband. Her rejection kept pulling him.
