Why does Barjatya heroines have no lives of their own? I don't even mean a profession. But something to prove that they have an individual personality/quirks of their own and not just an extension of their men? Look at Vidya whom I mentioned above from Bobby Jasoos. She has a whole life apart from the time she spends with Ali Fazal, despite them living in the same neighbourhood and having common acquaintances. She dresses in loose salwar-kameez and canvas shoes (she has to run for her life during her detective stunts) with her hair all over the place, can't speak English fluently,older than him and has none of the sophistication and education he's expecting from his future wife. Yet her vitality and chutzpah attracts him. There has to be something more than "we're both beautiful people, let's make some beautiful babies together".

Not just women...a lot of his movie characters are just an idealistic version of human beings. They're pretty unreal and hard to relate to

I've never quite warmed up to the Ranbir Deepika pair until I saw them in Tamasha.

Vidya and john abraham at least at those times when John had long hair
