I agree it's going to be more gradual. At the beginning he didn't even acknowledge Aastha as a human. But gradually he did, even though he doesn't want anything to do with her. Then when she signed the divorce papers, you could see that he had begun to acknowledge her as the woman his father has loved all his life. When he learns more about Anokhi's past, he will acknowledge her as a wise strong woman who brought Anokhi to Chandigarh..... Accepting her as his mother will be the last stage.
