Can't remember any lead characters but in ye rishta one actor played two different characters.

• Kavya Anjali = Killed off main hero (Kavya) played by Eijaz Khan and had us all in tears only to bring the actor back as another character by the named of Soham. The heroine ends up falling in love and marrying him.

• KZK Part 1 = Prem + Mukti was my most favourite couple ever. I invested every living breath for them. Mukti (Tina Parekh) gets killed off, Prem turns into a Tere Naam vegetable. I was laying in a coma, twitching with devastation. Actress comes back as another character named Devki and Prem falls in love with her. WHY THE FCUK WOULD EKTA DO THIS TO US IF SHE NEVER INTENDED TO GET RID OF THE ACTRESS/ACTOR!

Yeah it happens in American sitcoms - same actors paying various roles, but only small roles

In TBBT, Leonard childhood bully and Sheldon's father are played by same actor.
