Sita's birth has always been a mystery, many south indian version claim her to be the daughter of Ravan, while some versions say that she was 'ayonija' - unborn of human womb.

By todays standard is such a birth possible?

Can somebody explain their views?
thanks,
Sachi

yes its possible: think of artificial in semenation: a motehrs womb is not required foir test tube babies

Sita is widely speculated to be mandodary's daughter which makes her ravan's step daughter

Sitaji was avatar of godess laxmi. She was found by king janak when he was ploughing the land, since he was performing some puja to solve water problem. He found a girl child under the ground in a box. Since Plough is called "seet" in sanskrit she was name sita. SHE WAS NEVER A DAUGHTER OF RAVAN

well yes in lot of version there r lots of story related with sita birth in some books it is written that when ravan killed many rishi they curse them that our death will lead you to your death and all the rishi gather there power at 1 place which take the form of blood and ravan came to know that if this pot open then it will destroy everything so ravan collected that pot and hang that pot in his bed chamber and told mandodri never to open this pot as it will become the cause of his death but mandodri want to see wat was in that pot so she open that pot and see blood at that time she was pregenent she doesnt know wat to do so she drink that blood which make her ill when ravan came to know about this he gets angry and shouted in her chamber which lead into mandodri abortion he collected all the blood in 1 pot and then he kept that pot in 1 box and then he order his men to buried that box in some state away from lanka his men buried that box in mithila but that blood was the form of all the rishis power so it bring lot of bad luck land become dessert so janak consult his kulguru and they do all kind of pooja and havan and then they ask janak to plough earth where he find that box and when he open that box he find a baby girl and janak adopted her as his daughter and named her sita because in sanskrit plough is called "seet" thats why sita and she was lucky for janak and mithila that why he love her a lot that power thake the form of goddess laxmi and she was the baby girl

another popular story is an apsara named madhura oncehad to entertain lord shiva, the result of tehir union being planted in madhura's uterus.

madhura, because of her close association with the lord was cursed to be born asa giantess and she was mandodary

in this life before marriagae to ravan/after a few days of her marriage, madodary was able to detach and abort this foetus, which grew in a gold mud pot sealed with ghee(sounds similar to taht of birth of kaurava's 😉)-this was the pot found by janak
