Rewatched the initial episodes and the barriers that Aditya had built between him and Imlie were so apparent to the naked eye. It is so staggering how many things people miss when routine takes over. He knew she was making inroads into his family and that both the family and her would find it difficult to end it when the time came. He said that to her a couple of times too. And the disparaging that he subjected her to - there was no way he could have survived this long had he not let his anger/ distaste take over. He witnessed the barriers being pulled down every step of the way but continued to not question his reaction to them. Imlie came into a house that was a tight knit unit but splitting on the seams. Tensions between Dhruv, Rupali, BK, the kids and they were a lot more on tenterhooks around Aditya. Imlie smoothened them out and not because she had any ulterior motives. By the end of it, she even managed his anger. If those are not the hallmarks of a real partner, I do not know what is.
Will not delve too much into Malini other than stating the fact that her journey into his house has been the exact opposite. She came into his home, allowed her venomous mom to denigrate them time and again and is now trying to splinter them apart, albeit unintentionally, through her lack of understanding.
Yes it's very obvious especially if you binge-watch the show....which is what I did a month back when I fully got into it....and this is why I'd made that thread wondering about Adi's constant anger/scolding directed at Imlie.....there was a clear pattern that he was holding on to his anger desperately to not let her make inroads with him or his family.....and he did even tell her a few times that this is what he feared....that the family will get attached to her and then it will be harder when she leaves cuz her leaving is inevitable.
It is not at all a stretch to say that Imlie has a near magical ability to make almost anyone with a good/decent heart fall in love with her pretty quickly.....and Adi totally witnessed this ability of hers in real time with his family....she pretty much won over most of them within half a day of meeting them....lol by day 2 or 3, they were already calling her part of the family after that "thief" incident got resolved....so yeah takes over everything pretty quickly in a positive way, mad as she is.
Honestly, she is a perfect fit for the mad Tripathi family....they are also very good hearted people with a mad sense of humor about many things.....and Imlie's the same😆......I've said this before also ki apnapan hi apnepan ko samajhta hai......when you are someone who believes in genuinely trying to make a person feel apna, you recognize a kindered spirit.....Imlie is that person for the Tripathis.
Yes, Malini is a very nice/sweet person to them too....but nice/sweet doesn't always translate to apna....that is a deeper level of warmth.....and I could see from the beginning of the story only that while Malini was very nice/sweet to Adi's family, she could never really get to the APNA vibe with them.....and that is what I think is showing cracks now even more even though they are all rallying around her to support her in her complaints about Adi.....but it's not feeling like it's coming from a space of truly being connected as one family.
This is what happens when you don't know how to manage your relationships....now you've made a spectacle of your husband and your marriage in front of his whole family....even if you felt "comfortable" enough to think you can just spill out all your random grudges to them and they will understand.....this doesn't really help bring families together.
Imlie juggled a crazy amount of things in her early days in the house....Adi's constant anger/denigration, her own trauma/hurt, bonding with each of the Tripathis in her own way.....and she came out weaving all of them closer together rather than picking them apart. As you said, none of it was ever from an ulterior motive....that was just who she was.....so yeah that subtle symbolism was there from the beginning only that Imlie had a unique knack to connect to this family, to Adi as well (even though he had walls up in defensiveness) and she built bridges in her entire time there until we've now reached a point that even Adi feel suffocated in the house without her.....and the family is listless missing her so badly. The same Adi who once told her that she can't connect to his family since she will hurt them when she leaves is now telling her to come back because his family treated her like a daughter so how could she leave? 😆
I also want to add that on the surface, Malini looks so put together as a person...sweet and nice to everyone in Adi's family too and generally appearing to be a pleasant part of the family now....but if you dig under the surface, she is a slow rolling chaos that's building up. While Imlie on the other hand looks like chaos on the surface....a true blue JHALLI with mussed up hair and wacky antics....yet on the inside, she is way more put together - emotionally and mentally strong enough to withstand n number of crises.
So goes to show, appearances are never the whole story and can be deceptive many times. 😛😆
