Exactly. I get that they are trying to portray complex characters, and they are successful in doing that sometimes... but as the show is progressing there is a little too much yo-yoing and inconsistency from many characters that doesn't set in with the story or previous character development at all...

I think it was the same storyline in the shows in other languages. We were hoping that this might not happen. But I guess that is what we are about to next. If Anupama agrees to this it completely destroys the essence of the show and what it was supposed to be.

Ya I had seen some episodes on and off of Patiala Babes, since my mom used to watch. They had very nicely shown her struggles and success of becoming a working woman. Here Anu ke independent hone ke naam pe they just show her leaving for school or coming back from school, and wrapping up the dance class and we got one fire sequence which was also ok ok.

Patiala Babes was so good and refreshing in the beginning...

There Babita was actually a victim of circumstances, not a willing doormat... once she found out about the affair (despite having a 10 times worse situation than Anu) she took a stand for herself and left the house where neither husband nor in laws were respecting her...

And Babita was never dumb either, she failed to discover the affair for so many years because Ashok was living in another country and she hadn't met him in so many years, and once she found out she took the right decision...

I liked this show better than Patiala Babes because I find it more realistic overall, and many of the characters seemed better written and more complex...

But I have to say Babita as a character was far better than Anupama looking back... sad thing is in PB despite everything she did Babita was portrayed as not being particularly smart or capable and most of the praise was directed at her teen daughter Minnie, while here Anu is portrayed almost as a perfect superwoman 🤔...

Yes Babita's character development was better. Yes Minnie actually took all the limeloght, bcoz she was shown fierce. Anu's character has also shown a tremendous growth, but bcoz of her basic nature of letting go off things, which creates a hindrance in her character. It is like she takes 2 steps forward and again takes 1 step backward. Anu is very inconsistent and unnecessary made to be mahaan by the CVs.

Yeah Anu had changed a lot too after finding out, which was great to watch, and I appreciate the realism in not showing her walk out straight away with no job or anything...

But recently her character has been regressing slowly back to the way she was before, and showing flashes of brilliance here and there but then making the same dumb decisions...

I would sympathise more with Anu at this point if she had no job, her children were small, her family in her maayka were totally un-supportive or if this story was set a few decades ago.

But looking at her situation now she really has no reason to wear mangalsutra, live in that house, have VanYa coming and going and now allowing them both to live there for an indefinite amount of time too...

I generally struggle to sympathise with people who repeatedly make bad choices despite having multiple other options, and that is exactly what Anu is turning into.
