Even I did not grow up with my parents, I was brought up by my grandparents as both my parents were working. But since I had them, I really didn't miss my parents. In fact, I was more pampered than my friends who grew up with their parents were. So...

However, slowly my mom started to take over household responsibilities since my grandparents were growing older, that was when I was in my teens. N yes, I'm more dependent on my mother than I am on my father. I couldn't care less even if he went missing for days, but if my mom is missing for a few hours, I become cranky. Lol. That makes me sexist both ways, I guess. 😆

N I agree, a child needs to have one of their parents with them at least. No matter how rich they are, or how poor.

N frankly, as for the jobless guy thing, I wouldn't mind marrying a jobless guy if I was as rich as Shahid. But I'm not, so of course, it is only practical to marry someone who is able to contribute and sustain a family along with me.

😆😆 I wouldn't mind that too if I was rich enough. But well, I am not. So, I have to know my limit😆

Thank you for understanding. I was apprehensive whether I will be mocked or being moral policed for unappreciative of my mother. People here have tendency to react first & read the rest later😆 I just wanted to explain how child psychology works.

You were lucky to have your grandparents to spend the day with. While no one can really feel the void of parents, grandparents certainly make up a lot of it. 😳

Ours was a micro mini family with just my parents & my elder sister. With both my parents working & my sister being in school, it was just me & an Ayaa when I was very young. My sister used to return from school first, but I guess she didn't like the idea of babysitting me after returning home (I don't blame her, she was a kid too), so she just used to go to her room & lock the door😆 I was like....wth 😆 no one likes me or what?? 😆 That's how kids' minds work. They can not understand others' situation. They just notice that they are being ignored. Well...few hours after that, my Mum would return.... My Ayaa will go home... & My Mum would be mostly irritated with every mess I created.😆 My father used to be on work trips often & used to return very late in the evening whenever he wasn't on trip. He was the only one who liked to participate in my nonsense chattering & whatever I would be interested in playing with. My Dad was the only one whom I used to like back then 😆 He was like my hero, because he few times effectively saved me from Mum's beatings😆 But unfortunately time with him used to be very short-lived since he used to travel a lot due to work & I was left mostly Mummy ke bharose😆😆 Things changed for better when my father finally settled down with a less demanding job & my Mom took voluntary retirement due to a health condition. That was when I was in high school. I was actually apprehensive of the idea that Mum's gonna stay at home all day because that could only mean more scolding & nagging 😆 But I was surprised to discover she was not that grumpy anymore & she actually seemed to start liking me / showing interest in my life ...? I don't know how to put it, but my mother's nature started becoming a lot more likeable since then. And now I am really glad that I have her as my mother❤️

Now I understand, it's because she didn't have to manage work & home simultenously anymore. The pressure on her reduced a lot & so she could finally relax, rest & be herself. Balancing both job & home at the same time is a very very tough task. Whoever successfully manage both, I salute them. By saying "oh everyone does that! It's not a big deal!", we are just taking them for granted & not appreciating them enough. It is a big deal actually. And people who have other choices, should be allowed to make that choice & be happy in their choice.

@Lonewalker: That's the thing, a child requires all those things, and that's exactly how they think. Well, I'm glad you turned out to be more understanding and things become better for your mom as well. It really gets tedious.

I don't think people here were saying it's not a big deal to manage work and home. They were saying Mira is a lazy bum who manages neither work nor home coz she's rich and can afford nannies. Well, I say she's lucky lol. She likes to be there for her kids as many moms sure do, but do not have the luxury to stay back at home and take care of them coz they have to make ends meet. If given a choice, maybe they would choose the option Mira did as well. Nothing wrong with that.

Nah😆 I have gone through all the comments before writing that essay. Few people said what you noted while few defended her choice saying she is taking care of her home & children & it's her choice. In response to that someone said as if taking care of home & children isn't possible along with doing a job. Many people do. It's not a big deal. I was offended by that post. Rest all are fine.

As for the nannies, nannies do help her, but nannies are just employees she hired. She might not be comfortable to leave her children totally in care of strangers while she goes out to be the cool career woman. She might feel the need to supervise those nannies & see whether they are doing everything alright. Or she may simply want to just bond & connect with her children emotionally. She may want her children to know her as a loving, caring mother and not get attached to the nanny brigade more than her. Or there might be thousands of other reasons which doesn't involve her greedy wish of being a jobless freeloader. We don't have the right to judge her or label her with names in ANY of those situations.

Rabindranath Tagore was a Nobel Laureate actually. And Mansoor Pataudi an Oxford topper.

But of course Saif will forever be trolled on this board for reasons best known to certain people.

Help me out here ...will you ? I see several posts about Shahid being controlling ...that too no less women like Priyanka and kareena ...both were the Alphas when they were in relationship with Shahid...if anything Shahid was mocked relentlessly for not moving on. He even came across as insecure and more invested.

These same power puff girls were coerced into being a Vegetarian is conflicting. and with priyanka moving on to SRK again she did everything to be with him took the wrath of Bollywood elite, Kareena moved on to Saif...all she does is praise Saif , literally admitting to being enlightened by him. And yet its its Mira who is domesticated by Shahid. Frankly, Neither PC or Kareena are coming accross as empowered women if you look at how things proggressed.

One thing I feel is none of these women seem to do anything that they did not want. Who is Shahid to domesticate someone like Mira who is born-bred in Delhi rich household with good education and world view. Like her parents had no role in raising her.If anything Mira must be lot more enpowered being child of parents with Daughters (she has no brothers). She probably does not even know in practical that even elite families favor sons and daughters get a raw deal in inheritence.

It's better not to marry a working woman than marry one, expect her to stay home and give up her career and ambitions. I hope Mira was aware of this before she married him. At the end of the day, it's their choice and life.

I would hate to see my daughter give up her career until and unless she wants to do so herself.
