I had already made this topic and wanted to revive it but it's closed, unfortunately.

Anyways, asking again because it anyways got few responses but which is your preferred mode of entertainment: books or movies?

I love both, books are more cerebral (at least the right ones) but movies are more sensory!

Can't pick one!

Books.

I get excited to read the original book if I come to like a movie based on one & I actually dread watching the movie if I have read the book already.

I am yet to come across a story / novel whose movie version was more enjoyable than the original book.

Reading is boring af. I started reading Anna Karenina sometime back but left it midway. So movie > books for me.

Both. I love to read first then I want them to make a movie on it. I want to see my characters become alive, have a face I can visualize when I read. Often it's disappointing but I am okay with that.

It depends. But these days I seem to have no patience for a 2 hour movie so books it is for me at least for now!

If it’s books Vs Big screen then there is no muqabla only- big screen wins hands down! (can you tell I miss the big screen experience?😭)

Chocolat (2000) by Joanne Harris. I initially watched it for Johnny Depp. But Juliette Binoche and Alfred Molina's performance blew me away. All the changes they made to the book took it to another level. Juliette Binoche is this chocolatier who arrives at a quaint French village steeped in tradition with her child and unleashes a whirlwind of changes. Molina is the Mayor who forbids her from setting up a chocolate shop and tempting his villagers with her sinful chocolates from their fasting during the holy period of Lent. Depp has only a little screen time as a wandering gypsy and Judi Dench as an unhappy grand mother who longs to reconcile with her estranged daughter and grandson are wonderful additions. In fact the whole cast of villagers are wonderful.
