Do you think Alia's success is a fluke? - Page 3

If Alia had only one hit film, I would have thought her success was a fluke. However, after seeing the number of hits and critically acclaimed performances she has consistently delivered; she is successful because of her talent.

Honestly, when 'Student of the Year' came out, I thought Alia was a talentless hack. I saw her as one of the many who got a movie because of nepotism and would fizzle away. Highway blew me away. I couldn't believe that this was the follow-up to SOTY. Veera was raw, vulnerable, and essayed so beautifully - that I became convinced - damn this girl can get into the skin of any character. To go from Shanaya to Veera requires genuine talent.

Luck does play a part. Alia is lucky to be born in her family and have mentors like Karan Johar. Karan keeps sending movies her way. But man, the debut Karan Johar gave her was godawful. You wouldn't wish that movie on your worst enemy. The fact that she debuted in one of the absolute worst movies of her generation and still thrived proves her career is no fluke. And no thanks to Karan Johar. Maybe all the good movies he sends her way is because of the travesty that is SOTY. But can anyone really make up for that hot mess.

Hers and Ranbir’s are some the most curated careers with well chosen movies, roles, Directors, Music Production houses etc, but their success is anything but fluke. Once your movie is at the theaters, and the audience are able to connect to their acting, the success is all their own. They are the actors that I would put my money on!

No her career is well planned.

Alia did start off as lot of hype and support of KJo esp in SOTY, HSKD, 2 States but to her credit she did choose good scripts in Highway, Dear Zindagi, Udta Punjab and performed well. Then came her Raazi which catapulted her as good actress.

She did work hard.

i voted no cos alia emotes better than deepika.

IA if it was a fluke those films as "curated" as they are wouldn't have people coming to cinemas

I think she is the biggest hyped flop in recent memory..after RK.She too is signing films now,which no one wants to do.

In 9 years,fans lean on Raazi so hard.An India- Pakistan film,a Biopic ,a spy story with good music.What were the chances of it failing in these times.

Has any other top heroine performed so low at the BO ever?

Gully boy is her biggest grosser in her entire career.

Please ,never compare talent..there are dozen new actresses more talented than her..shall we start with a YRF find-Bhumi?

She adds zero value to a film's BO.The excitement and prospects actually dips.

Poor Alia getting hate from left right center. I've liked her movies and her acting in those. She acts cute and cray emo in the emotional ones. Her acting's fine. I can see why she'd be successful.

HOWEVER, Shraddha is quite similar in that aspect but her success has been limited. Either her movies are annoying or her role in those movies are. Meh.

Alia is a decent to good actress. Way better then Deepika. Her success is hers and it's completely justified.
