Chapter 8

Hello friends

Anokhi closed the book and smiled slightly. She had to agree that her husband has a good taste in books. In the past few days she had been reading a lot in her free time and she is trying to continue her studies by herself as much she could. Ofcourse it's not easy, but it is all she could do for now. There are a lot of things to plan about, especially what she would do after divorce, obviously going back to her father's house is not an option.

She shook her head and decided to go back to read her book, when she looked at the old granddaughter's clock and noticed the time.

" Half past 10 and Mr Sabharwal is still not home. What happened to him now?" She thought to herself.

She stood up and walked towards the balcony, it's a warm July night with light winds blowing. Looking at the moon gives her soul peace. Suddenly she heard car's horn and looked at Shaurya's car entering inside the gate. She turned away and walked inside.

Shaurya looked up at the balcony and saw Anokhi going inside the room, he had noticed her doing this quite often. She seems to love looking at the sky. There are a lot of things about her he had observed in all this time. Ofcourse, she avoids him most of the times, but he couldn't. No matter what he does, his thoughts always seems to flow in her direction. He had noticed little things about her . Like how her eyes twinkle when she smiles ( that she never does in front of him) , like how she paces back and forth when she is nervous.

He entered inside the kitchen to look for leftovers of dinner , when he saw his wife already serving a plate of food for him.

" Umm I saw you coming so I warmed the food and you can tell me if you want anything else. " She said without looking at up from the plate.

" Oh. Alright thank you. " He responded.

She turned to go when he stopped her, " if you are not too busy then would you give me some company. " He asked hesitantly.

Anokhi looked at him with a bewildered expression, but soon composed herself and nodded. She sat down opposite him .

" Soo.....are you settling here just fine?" He asked slowly.

Anokhi nodded slightly , " yes..... all are very good here. "

" And dad..... hope he doesn't trouble you much, I mean he...."

" No that's not true. Papa ji bohot ache hai, he has been helping me to settle here a lot. Why would you call him troublesome?"

" Not like that. But there could be......" He stopped realising his thoughts.

" But what , Mr Sabharwal?" Anokhi asked puzzled by his thoughts. " Is this about your mother ?"

" None of your concern. " He responded sternly.

" I know there is something bothering you. Because I could see it....."

" There is no need for you to see anything. You are just a guest here , there is no need for you to know anything. " He snapped angrily.

" But these people are my family. " Anokhi said.

" They are my family not yours. Remember it you are only here for a limited time. "

" Alright. " She whispered and walked away as tears rolled down her cheeks.

Anokhi ran away there and reached the terrace , she sat down on the ground and cried her heart out.

At that moment her phone buzzed and she wiped her tears and took a deep breath " yes mummy how are you?" She asked smiling lightly.

" Nikki, are you alright beta? I know something is bothering you. "

"No mummy I am fine. Just missing you very much. " Anokhi replied.

" But..... Nikki please beta tell me. "

" I .......aap khush ho toh main bhi hoon. Don't worry your Nikki is very strong. Main thik hoon. "

" Nikki always remember your mummy is with you. If there is something bothering then just tell me. Ok?"

" Yes mummy. I love you very much. " She said and cut off the call.

Next day

Kanchan looked at Anokhi who was silently doing her work and sighed. This young girl is suffering a lot. She could understand her pain very well. After all she knew how it feels when you are unwanted presence in your husband's life. Not to mention when you can't even fit with your so called family.

" Anokhi looks troubled. " Gayatri commented softly.

" We both know the reason. It's no secret. Maa, why Sabharwal's choose middle class girls like us when we can't fit in their circle and even not in their son's hearts ?" Kanchan asked softly.

" It's not your fault..... it's destiny beta and whatever happens, it does for good. "

" What about Shaurya bhaiya, he still loves Shagun. Do you believe he....."

" Shagun? Who is Shagun?" Anokhi asked coming towards them.

Kanchan and Gayatri looked at her in worry.

" Bataiye chachi, who is Shagun?" Anokhi asked.

" Beta wo....."

" Shaurya's friend and ex colleague. " Devi answered coming there " she is now studying in Cambridge University. I am sure Gayatri and Kanchan were again praising her. "

Kanchan and Gayatri nodded at this.

" Oh. " Anokhi said softly. " But I...."

" Anokhi leave it for now. Main ye batane aayi thi ki tumhe aur Shaurya ko Mandir jana hai. There is a small veneration for you both. Now go . "

After anokhi's departure Devi glared at Kanchan and Gayatri , " don't do that again. I don't want her to know anything about Shagun. It will be for the best. "

Anokhi walked out of the mansion towards Shaurya's car " now what will I do? Veneration with Mr devil. How would I face him? Hey mata rani why are you doing this with me. That Mr devil...... mujhe bachao unse. " She whispered to herself worriedly.

" What are you blabbering?" Shaurya asked.

Anokhi shook her head and looked in another direction.

Shaurya turned and gestured her to sit inside that she followed wordlessly. She started looking out of the window completely ignoring him. He wanted to ask her a lot of questions. Where was she last night? What was she doing? But most importantly he wanted to apologise for his behaviour, but ofcourse he can't.

Once reaching the temple Anokhi started walking inside with Shaurya besides her.

" Tum andar jao. I have a important call to attend. " Shaurya excused himself and walked away.

Anokhi turned to go inside when she bumped into someone.

" I am sorry I didn't pay attention. Are you alright?" She asked worriedly.

The other woman stared at her with a stunned expression.

" Yes I......." The woman started saying.

" Anokhi. " Shaurya shouted with his eyes angrily staring at the other woman.

Ok.
