But I think they are doing it.. giving too much importance to pakhi's character both onscreen and off screen is inappropriate. Neil himself said in many interviews that it's a story about three characters.. then why are only 2 actors being given too much importance in the promotion videos be it SBS interview or such promos.. no other show does that.. if Sai- Virat- Pakhi are the leads then why Sai's side of story is not being put forward equally in the interviews, why is Sai gayab in majority of interviews?
If we look at star's other show like Anupamaa, there also even though the male protagonist is actually a negative character only, but in interviews and all anupama and vanraj are kind of given equal importance and bothe their pov are given out. Even kavya being the vamp there is much more likable than pakhi, and she has no shame in admitting that she plays a negative role.
Also Neil himself said in an interview that all these characters have an intricate back story to them and the audience will get to know later that why a particular character behaves in a certain manner. But my point here is that if you keep on serving such cringeworthy stuff to the audiences for a long time, do they really think that the audience will stick around till the time their back stories are revealed for 1-2 years?
IMO for the audience to stick around till that time they need to make this journey till the background reveal enjoyable and more importantly digestible and believable (which virakhi ki nazdeekiyan is certainly NOT).
As I said earlier, the journey is more important than the destination.
