Check this out. African slaves brought over from Africa by the British to India and Pakistan are called Siddi people or Habshis.
In India, they are mostly found in Gujarat and in Pakistan in Sindh and Balochistan.
Iāve met loads of them and trust me they find the word Habshi utterly detestable. They hate being called that and state that itās a racist word.
If you ever encounter a Siddi person I hope you donāt tell them that the word habshi we use is for someone who eats a lot of food and is harmless cuz they will not like it at all (trust me Iāve had this conversation with them a lot) šš
