There lies the problem this season. They all assumed forming gangs will make them popular outside similar to what happened the previous year. Nisha clarifying to Archana at least twice “velliya irukkura makkal nammala purinjupaanga” was giveaway for this strategy. Aana unmai nilavaram apdiye opposite.

Audience support for gang or individual game is based on situation, never going to be one rule without any context attached to it.

Last year gang was only about Sandy/Kavin (Saravanan evicted early) and two people is not much to be called as gang. Then formed the 5 member gang, which happened purposefully to 'tackle situation' (after apologies) and bond increased after that. It isn't intentionally formed to play as group, when it actually happened. Some might have this narrative and some might have different opinion, but fact is majority might have thought the positive aspects about it and hence the popularity and support to gang in previous season.

Next year individual game might be flop and gang might receive audience support.
