A Television Couple that could have pulled masses in Films?

Hey! Just wanted to throw this out there. Is there a Television couple that you think, deserved to or should have been cast in a Movie together?

There is so much talent out there in Indian Television. 2000-2010 was considered the 'golden era' or Indian TV. Many of them like Karanvir Bohra, Rajeev Khandelwal, Pulkit samrat, Barun Sobti, Karan Singh Grover, Jay Bhanushali have tried in BW. I don't know if they were as successful as, they were on TV. (Except:Sushant Singh Rajput)

Actresses like Surveen Chawla, Shilpa Anand, Aamna Sharif, Anita Hasannandani, Prachi Desai also tried, but failed. But some of these names were extremely popular as pairs on Television. A few of these converted their following into TRPs, a few remained with some loyal audience on the internet

Me personally, I am a fan of Rajeev Khandelwal and Aamna Sharif. I thought there were sublime as Sujal and Kashish - quite sensational. I think they were quite the craze and also had the star power, to pull in the masses. (Fans in India, Pak, UAE - quite a few places I'm guessing) So yeah, I think people would've paid to watch them on the big screen. I still watch their VMs on youtube and episodes on FB.

Do you have a couple in mind, that you think should've been identified by a PH like Dharma, YRF (or any you liked) and cast together on the big screen? AND had the potential to pull in the masses? Name them.

(Also, you could post a picture or an edit of them together - I stopped watching TV shows long ago!)

Barun Sobti and Surbhi Jyoti I feel - both have it in them to obtain acclaim and subsequent popularity in movies. They were smoking in their webseries Tanhaiyan 🔥 Surbhi is hot and I'm pretty sure that she's making her debut soon.

Barun on the other hand has been generating attention with The Missing Stone and garnering praise with Asur (he got nominated for Filmfare OTT Best Actor Critics)

I don't think any of them could've. TV stars tend to become insignificant when they are in movies, so I assume the pairs would've been more or less the same. Most of the fans who watch tv don't really follow them to their movies. People's preferences change from show to movie. Also most of these actors are good for tv but when in movies God they are pretty bad There are few exceptions of course.

Rajeev Khandelwal after a terrific debut like Aamir, not getting work is travesty... This is why Nepotism sucks...

The thing is that these TV stars truly lack the charm and screen presence required for the big screen IMO.

Well sadly yeah 😔 that's a whole different discussion.. Who knows what happens there for outsiders? RK mentioned he had a casting couch incident with a big Producer or Director. Underlying issues such as those, could've also made him picky on whom he wanted to work with.

Barun and Surbhi? Ah Interesting. I haven't watched the web series, I've known of the Barun Sanaya pair more. But I'm sure Surbhi and him would've been great together too. Barun was quite a craze some years ago too. He faded away too soon..!

I agree with the screen presence POV.😊 That's very true for TV actors. Which is why I mentioned pairs. A lot of them didn't work out individually, but were successes as pairs. I wondered, perhaps if they were cast together again, it could've been different? The chemistry of the couple may have taken the burden off of them to, establish a strong screen presence as an individual.

You could give it a try if you're into intense romantic stories, these two have really good chemistry ^^ It's about two lonely, broken people who try escaping reality though a one-night stand but who end up in a journey of falling in love/hurt etc. Yeah Barun and Sanaya were explosive on TV but idk, I don't feel that Sanaya is made for movies for some reason.

Barun is gradually emerging again I feel, especially post Asur. He's got a lot of projects in his kitty for 2021.
