Sorry to butt in I think the opposite. The earlier one still stood a chance. Rhea part 1 was never shown as borderline bipolar psycho. I don't know if it's the direction or actress but her entry has only ruined everything that made the show better.

Case in point the slap scene with prachi see the difference between part 1 and 2

I do actually now that i think about it. I think there is something about the way Pooja Banerjee is portraying the character or the actress herself playing this role that encourages the idea of redemption for her. Something along the lines of vulnerability and fractured mind portrayed quite well. I always did think the previous actress was ill suited to play this particular role.

It's kind of amazing how actors can influence the way we look at characters. I mean so many people love Abhi's character because of Shabbir but how many would actually like a man like that in real life as their partner or feel the same way about him if another actor ill suited to the role played him. The same can be said about a lot of male leads in Indian Tv series.

Someone pointed out the same for Fawad Khan in a pakistani show too once. My friends and i literally have not been able to look at the character the same way again. I liked Zaroon's character until i realized what a misogynistic hypocritical jerk he was throughout half of the story and was glorified for it.

I think the story arc for her character has changed quite a bit since then. Personally something about PB appeals to me.

She can pull of being vindictive and emotional well. She's made people hate Rhea and develop sympathy for her at the same time (in different people of course. Naturally some think one over the other)

I'm often torn by being disgusted by her character and feeling pity for her.

Honestly I am flummoxed, how do you feel sympathy for a character who knowingly tried to kill someone besides other criminal things just because things don't go her way

Genuine question - has anyone seen twins who are so completely different in nature and have like zero connection. Most twins I know just have this sort of intrinsic connection even if they are poles apart in nature. They still get along on some level and share affection. Not even their parents can get in the middle of that.

How do you have twins how literally detest each other so much? I thought ITV was famous for making the twin connection / sibling connection a thing.

It was just in a few scenes at a particular moment. Maybe because i could relate to the feeling. That feeling does not last when you look at the whole picture.

Edit

I think of those scenes was when Rhea was describing how she felt growing up without her mother, what it felt like waiting for her. And the part where she says she's mainly been angry because she's missed her.

I can relate to that. Felt the same way for a long time until i realized you can't change what happened and the fact that no matter how much you think you know your parents, you can never really know everything about them. They have lived an entire life before you and so judging them without fully knowing their side of the story isn't right. Besides, time and people lost never come back so holding on to what's passed just takes away from you, your present and your future.

The issue is they have degraded the character to the extent that regression is not possible. We can't even take the absentee parent reasoning as prachi had far worse than her. I assume papaji showered all his attention ans luxuries on her. Her burji and nanny spoiled her rotten. Prachi just had her mother and nothing else she have seen days when she couldn't have proper meal look how she turned out.

If absentee parent is an arsenal for her then prachi has bigger reason to be vindictive. In fact even now both her parents only think for that psycho and don't even bother about prachi yet she is the one sacrificing her happiness for them

I think they could have shaped Rhea's character in a better way and could have made her grey but they have failed to do so. The number of criminal activities she has done are beyond redemption in my opinion. Also when she had her 2 minute feeling sorry scene she only felt sorry because they were blood related so according to her logic it is ok to harm and kill strangers which is completely beyond me. So the makers have messed up big time with her character.

1. They have never showed Riya waiting for her mother until she found who her mother was. The first episode she found out...she was madly in love with her mother and sister. Then the writers flipped.

2. She never loved Ranbir. She doesn't understand what love is. Period. She had enough and more people around her to love and pamper her. On the contrary Prachi should be the one feeling deprived of it.she wants Ranbir just to defeat her sister

Agar redemption chahiye phir Riya ko to jail jaana padega. hai na? And saalo toh wahi rehna padega for her crimes.
