In court, one needs to accept their mistake and reality. That's the bottom of any judiciary system. If one is living under extreme delusion and superiority complex, that's none of court/evidence abba dabba jabba's fault. It's their fault.
Well some defendants will never admit their mistake and in that case, the jury has to decide and never will a judge allow the jury to base their verdict on ambiguous evidence aka hearsay evidence which this was. Which is why Salman is totally wrong to assume and enforce it as a fact.
