I have seen SGP in bits and parts but I liked it, mainly because of the other characters. I think there have been other shows where FL is like this, but acting and how the story is executed makes a lot of difference.

Lol thats a good observation 😆 In this case the premise is just so bizzare, its like nothing is likable. Maybe original Bengali shows did it more convincingly and when they remake people just give reviews based on other shows popularity😆

Many people say they are tired of typical "abusive" rude heroes so they like any story where hero isn't being abusive.....lol that's a fair point.....but you know what I'm even MORE tired of? A story in which the leads have to be instantly married and then everyone starts automatic shipping cuz they are pati-patni so perfect match.....baaki kuch interaction development ho na ho.....par shaadi ho gayi hai toh instant connection hona hi hona hai and ab sab "ideal" hai....lol

THIS ! It bothers me so much if you do not have a proper basis of a relationship and there is just no build up. 🤔 I don’t know if it qualifies but I detested that Humsafar ( Pakistani) show for this reason😆 I had to finish it in 3 different watchings, because my friend literally forced me too😆, even after forwarding half of it, felt like never ending. I just could not connect with main leads story

Like if I was to take GK's example.....yes they too got married in strange circumstances but their relationship was never dependent on that shaadi for development.....they shared a solid connect independent of that shaadi.....and that is why that story is worth appreciating.

That is a master piece of story telling. They just did not use any tropes or any short cuts and they had so many valid plot points to use the tropes but they did not. The master stroke was they ended the diyarvattu and made GK unite based on their love and not any societal pressure or some majboori.

And as you said they had this solid soul connection, that was not formed because of the marriage.

Instant shaadi stories I'm super allergic to more than ever now.....but for most people, that is enough....lol actually more than enough.....this show also has only taken off since this SaiRat got married.....now people are coming out of the woodworks to psychoanalyze everything about them.....lol shaadi se pehle toh kisi ko itne feels nahin aa rahe the.....kaafi dead forum tha.

It just takes one scene really 😆 They need that one dose every few days and they are alright with whatever trash is shown otherwise😆 Its ok to watch something just for time pass, but how on earth can you psycho analyze these characters, lol!

*Edit: And on top of my allergy to instant shaadi stories, the main actress is just BAD.....like even to sell a cliche like this, dhang ki casting toh kar lete.....I saw a clip of the Bengali version and that actress has presence....even for a shitty storyline....lol yahaan toh woh bhi nahin.....but still this will automatically find an audience cuz SHAADI and Bahu who is keeping her sasural on tenterhooks😆

That bad acting is a big turn off for me, thats the reason I watched it in mute🤣 Its her dialogue delivery, its like she is reciting something at gun point😆


Did you see RK on friday😆 They brought in Vidhnaharta Ganesha to help Radha😆 The good thing is finally Radha asked Chandradev to not help Sambh 😲 as his intentions are not good, but he says he can’t help her on this.

Lord Narayan tells Radha only person whose bhakti is very pure can make this happen. I guess its the track where it will be proved that Radhas bhakti is the purest, as everyone else will fail😆

I agree with what you are saying .SGP worked bigtime with the audience and still has a good recall and rewatch value is because it was the clutterbreaker at that time of abla dukhyari bahus . One had a Suhana who was breath of fresh air. Ragini did really well as Suhana and dusra for a change they were shown to be normal humans with flaws even ishaan was not your evey other ML not in terms or looks or character traits. With Suhana her bratness/childishness had a very good base with her being spoilt and then married in a family she initally didn't wanted too.

Aaj kal ke remakes Don't try any of that and as you said least is get better actors but nahi woh bhi nahi ho paata toh how can we buy these khokle rather irritating character when they don't try to connect with the audience at all just caz someone says xyz is Main lead people are like ok cool let's start the aarti caz isse acha toh koi hai nahi and keh dia toh keh dia the hyping up not caz one like a character or even an actor but just caz one is main lead is what is I mean I doubt ke iss sai ladki ke koi fandom hoga pehle se but all this hyping her up caz she is supposedly giving it back lol🤣

Haan, in SGP's case, Ragini had a superb screen presence and was a good actress to begin with.....so that helped in the audience connecting to a character like Suhana who was a brat with a good heart basically. And then a big part of the USP for SGP was the lovable family.....ek ek family character had a charm and the way the family bonding was woven in was touching.

But I'm genuinely stumped about what ppl are finding to connect in Sai cuz the acting is so bad.....I have nothing against the actress but she is not apt for a part that requires immense screen presence and acting to salvage a pretty lame storyline. Still, I guess for most people that doesn't matter anymore.....a few "savage" one-liners are enough to get behind the character, acting jaisi bhi ho.....lol when this show had started, I'd seen some posts in the forum saying the FL being so blahh is a reason they dumped the show......now suddenly overnight shaadi hote hi, a whole flood of ppl have embraced the FL as the best thing about the show.....lol.....even though the rest of the show has such caricaturish typical melodramatic sasural characters, that has all been taken into stride cuz ppl have fallen SO madly in love with this FL and her love story with new pati.😆

Re: Bengalis.....lol well to be fair, they have given a lot of classic literature and movies worth valuing cinematically.....and also, like it or hate it, it seems their soap storylines are also hit no matter how regressive.....lol so they seem to know the magic TRP formula also😆.....I think the difference is that the Bengali actors seem to be way better even in the regressive soaps they make.....while their Hindi versions seem to suck at casting😆. Then again, seems like Hindi versions mein casting is an afterthought these days anyways😆.

Same yaar I have nothing against this girl matlab idk her enough to form an opinion🤷‍♀️ on her but her work is just so bad.

Word about the sudden pyar just caz she is married now and people do have a dislike for the lover in this story woh pakhi ko people hardly liked from what I see yoh as soon as shaadi ho gayi toh instant love ho gaya and isne ek do line bol di against force shaadi toh best character ever ho gayi. Bhai ek din ke do sentences pe poore character ko judge nahi kia ja sakta and truth of the matter is it sucks.

Dusra pehle bhi majboori walis shaadis ka raj tha and all but uske baad everyone put an effort to develop the bonding from there kuch toh effort daaltw thay in accepting and forming a connect ek dum instant 2 min maagi noodle nahi hota tha which is why it worked. Ab toh bar jagah kisi bhi tarah shaadi hui ho but jaise hi shaadi ho gayi audience and characters khud go ok best thing ever ab latak jao saath main. This ladki ka bilkul hi ajeeb hai she says these lines and then uchalti hai(legit jumping) when she sees vorat back from work and goes sir sir sir . Matlab chahti kya ho 8tna over reaction all the time. Also I am in constant confusion with the flips bahar lounge main sabko taane maarti hai ke zabardasti ho gayi shaadi and then she acts as if she is bahu too with all that fake authority and ladna jhagadna

And not just her woh YHC wali preeesha also had no retaliation whatsoever uspe pe toh force bhi use ki thi Mr rudra ne and she was acting so chill jaise kuch hua nahi in lame SA ke liye and literally keeps acting jaise shaadi nahi hai koi falopda hai literally kabhi koi expression nahi kabhi koi thought process nahi and bas robot banke ghoomte raho I have never seen that female getting affected or reacting to any thing no matter what goes around her which is why I don't watch anymore and then they also say it is better than YHM oh puhleez. I am no fan of YHM but ishita had a much better development too

Oh LOL...WORD about Humsafar....such a LAME show😆.....even I've never understood why it has such a devout fan following....wohi typical case hai of ppl shipping something cuz shaadi and "good looking" leads😆. I actually loved ZGH....I think that's the only Fawad Khan soap I liked😆....even though I guess he got his fame from Humsafar. ZGH mainly worked for me cuz of the character of Kashaf.

I'm reminded again of our discussion regarding tokenism the other day....people yearn to slot everything into easy labels so if an FL is not abla, she is automatically savage....as if there is no range in between....lol now for example even Kashaf was no abla....but I didn't like the story simply cuz she bajaaoed everyone....I liked her for the fully formed character she was....her own vulnerabilities, her own personality issues.....it was a range.

I'm also curious if this phenomenon is a bi-product of the pandemic....more velle log looking to jump on anything and write essays for even such poorly written stories😆. I haven't had the chance to watch the Friday yet....I'd gone back to rewatch mode and was watching the Dwarka nirmaan phase😆.....I didn't know they showed Krishna creating Dwarka out of a dream that Radha had😆.....so it makes more sense now why Dwarka was about to drown when Radha was about to leave after losing faith in herself.....lol that entire phase is funny waise.....the writers were trying to build some mystery about Krishna making a promise to Radha that he will come from the east and take her away to a place which will be theirs alone.....toh audience and Radha ko lagne lagaa that place will be Dwarka since he was building it based on Radha's dream😆.....then baad mein conveniently dikhaa diya ki he never meant for this to be the place and woh reunion toh obviously Golok mein hi hoga🤣.......these writers are quite clever about doing this constant bait and switch😆.

Abhi I've reached that part again where Krishna tells Radha he has to marry Rukmini (writers ne ismein bhi fan-fiction daal diya that Krishna is compelled to marry Rukmini cuz Radha tells him to do everything in the letter she sends to him without realizing the letter has Ruk asking Krishna to marry her😆) and Radha's all chill about it and ready to help Rukmini learn everything about Krishna😆.....Rukmini in her constant giddiness over Krishna is still annoying😆.

Re: current track.....haha Radha's bhakti always gets proven as the greatest....I think they've done this in earlier tracks too....but chalo achha hai Radha is getting something to do😆.

I happened to see a promo of that Imli show and usmein bhi bigamy dikhaa rahe hain😆.....matlab woh Imli ke pati ki shaadi ho gayi uski behen se🤣.....and this stuff will sell now cuz audience will be all "haaye bechaari Imli, uska pati kab use apnayega"😕😆......even though Pati has literally married another girl with all rituals.....lol is bigamy still allowed in Hindi marriages? Kaaafi confusing hai😆.....I guess maybe woh Imli ki shaadi register nahin hui toh no one counts it😆.

Fawad ka beside ZGH DAASTAN has been an epic but it is really hard to watch as it is about partition and the horror of that time. That was one show that gave me nightmares when I watched it . All the sacrifices people made it hurts and more so caz it gives visuals to what we have heard and it had a different kind of sentimental value given the real accounts from my grandparents

It was rather intresting take in the sense in the 2nd half with how after sacrificing so much the people who moved didn't actually got what they thought they would with the independence and they kept getting the bad side and things weren't easy after that. You see bano actually losing her mind and telling hassan this isn't what I pictured and left so much for and ending up in an asylum after continous harassment of different kinds and sacrificing everything. What an act by Sanam Baloch. Definately her best.

Oh fary I totally get what you are saying. As a Bengali it's really a bad feeling to see how the art has deteriorated be it tv shows or movies. Movies still some good ones come out every now and then with some nice themes amazing work. But TV shows toh baap re the less said the better. Specially star jalsha they make the most pathetic ones. My mom and granny would actually get into fights because nani can't stop watching these shows and my mom has zero tolerance for them🤣

Oh and I too was never really a fan of humsafar. Infact for me ZGH was a very nice one. Dastaan I tried watching but after a while it got very heavy for me so I stopped. But hopefully someday I watch the whole thing.

Like even in Punjabi films, ek image ban gaya hai that they are all the typical slapstick comedies....but some ppl actually make thoughtful films in Punjabi cinema too that never break through as much.....mass market stuff hi chalta hai.

It's a pity that GECs choose to elevate the trashy narratives rather than drawing from the many classical pieces of literature available in Bengali and even Hindi literature.

Arre now I feel bad😵 for saying it😆 but I didn't mean it in derogatory way at all. Fact hai har jagah tv ka bura haal hai why single out a region and jo bhi hit hota hai usko sab remake karne lagte hain it is all across the board the same conditions but it really annoys me ke khud ka soch ke kuch dhang ka bana lo but then I guess koi kaam karna hi nahi chahta asal main. Copy/paste is the easiest solution to sabki samasyas🤷‍♀️

Daastan is too much I had to pause and take a break a lot of times in between it would leave me exhausted and I have cried like actual legit cried cried bha bha karke at points🤣 and it is embarrassing but the horror was just too much and esp knowing ke it wasn't exaggerated this same ro same stuff was exactly what I have heard from my nani all my life everytime kuch slightly aisa bol dete thay na kya zaroorat thi kyon kia etc and then it would be like opening old wounds and she'd get sighting offended ke tum log kya jani very easy for you guys to just say it 😆 RIP

But yeah daastan main bechari ke saath gua bhi toh constantly bura hi tha no matter what. Also the fact that she was stuck in a no mans land for like so many years in between basically na yahan ki thi na wahan ki and it was too long of a limbo for this character not knowing her fate
