@Unique.Sheep: Have you gotten over It Ends With Us or are you still swooning over it? Would you be able to read this book again after about a year or so?

It’s a pity. I had high expectations from Crazy Rich Asians.

I don’t exactly need complete silence. I can read and focus with a bit of noise in the background. When it’s too loud, then it’s difficult for me to read. It depends more on whether my mind is silent or in an overactive state.

I read 70 pages of Fifty Shades of Gray and was completely put off.

And Ofcourse it's not okay to glorify abuse or cheating. But they are just for enjoyment. People who think that it's okay to be treated like that have some issues to deal with. That's why I like sassy females who clap back. I shamelessly enjoy these kind of books. The heart wants what it wants. 😆

@unique.sheep I prefer silence while reading books and in general. I despise loud and unnecessary noises.

I know of Vk and I have been using it for a few years now. It’s just that I listen to books at 1.5 or more speed so I was looking for a site with that option. Thanks anyway.

After liking his first two series so much, this one seems like a disappointment. Maybe it's not really bad, I just have high expectations from the author now. 🤔

I did set a Goodreads goal but since I'm a (very) slow reader, I set it for just 20. I usually end up reading between 25 and 30 books a year, but this year I haven't even managed my goal of 20. Need to read one more to get there. Although, I have read a couple of big books this year, and tried new authors, so I count that as a win.😃

How did you like A Monster Calls?
Quality over quantity any day. If you have read big books and discovered new genres, it’s definitely a win.

Did you girls know that Anxious People lost out to The Midnight Library in the Goodreads Fiction category by just 5 votes?

im over it now because im hooked on Silent Patient but im almost done with that too LOL...i wouldnt mind re reading it after a year because ill probably forget half the story by then but I probably wont because theres plenty of other books to read. I just downloaded Colleen Hoovers latest book Layla I think it released a few days ago. The plot doesnt really interest me though, I like reading stories which center around the female character rather than the male but I might give it a try.

I am in the middle of CRA, its getting a bit better now but theres just too many characters that its confusing.

I am planning to read twist me series next by anna zaires. Its dark romance so lets see how that goes.

I cant read with someone talking in the background, my mind just gets confused.

I prefer silence but I can read with some background noise too. But if I have to keep up a conversation alongside, it makes me very slow. My main problem is the noise inside my head more than the outside ones. Sometimes my mind can run a thousand miles a minute. 😆

I was disappointed with the book, tbh. I went into it with high expectations but I didn't like it that much. I loved the concept of the book but I thought it could have been better executed. I couldn't connect to the characters at all. The entire story was too predictable, and by that I mean I could tell what was going to happen only a couple of chapters in. Those two things put me off any book. The only parts I liked were the three stories the monster told. Another unpopular opinion from me, I guess. 😆

Yes, that's what I'm trying now: to try out new authors and genres. I've also planned for next year😛:

1. I really want to try out a classic from Sci-Fi. I was thinking about picking one of these: the Foundation series, hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, George Orwell's works, The Time Machine, The Martian.

2. I've also kept at least one Hindi novel and several short stories in my goal for the next year.

3. Mythology: The Iliad, Robert Graves' The Greek Myths.

With these goals, I think I'm going to set my next year's goal at 10. Even that seems like a huge feat.🤪
