Did any of you set a Goodreads reading goal? Are you far from completing your goal or have you already met the goal you set?
I am 3 books away from completing my goal. I really hope I’m able to make it.

I have completed my goal. It's the same every year. 52 books!

I started Crazy rich asians and read 7 chapters but its the most boring book ive ever read or maybe I just cant get into it after reading it ends with us lol but the badly written characters doesnt help either🤢

im reading The Silent Patient and really enjoying it. I got too curious and read spoilers so I know what the twist is🤣

I was planning to set a goal but I have no idea where to start lol

And, as for your question, if a book is 5 star for me, I definitely will check out their other works.

@Diya: Gone Girl is a favourite of mine! I was just getting into thrillers back then and still vividly remember how it made me feel.

It's not once in a while for me. I am reading fanfictions all the time. I need to be stopped. 😆

Oh yes yes, I have read many of Nancy Drew and Enid Blyton books. By the time our school library had stocked up on Hardy Boys, I grew out of it.

Ohhh I really want to read Gone Girl! Heard a lot about it! Theres also one called Born Confused and Gone With The Wind I think? Have always heard about those.

what is hardy boys? lol

Enid Blyton sounds really familiar I am sure I must have read his books in childhood but I dont remember.

I have changed my goodreads goal multiple times this year. Originally I didn't want to hog on many books. I have a tendency to read a book in a day mostly. I wanted to slow it down. But with the pandemic happening I kept adding more and more books in the pile. My current goal is 45 books . Just a book or two away in achieving it.

Well, I liked bully. Liked until you ( boy pov) even more. On the other hand, didn't like punk 57 very much though. It just reminds me how different everyone's taste can be.

I Have read so many books with so many infuriating characters( fallen Crest high is one such dumb book) that I end up liking the books with somewhat reasonable characters.

I love romantic comedies and enemies to lovers romance. I like the slow burn and how the characters fall in love. My favorite part!!!

I am listening to CRAZY RICH ASIANS. it's okay so far. The narrator is so good that I will just finish just for the sake of listening to her voice.

I finished A Monster Calls today. Now, I'm back to reading The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan, which I had left unfinished a few months back. After liking his first two series so much, this one seems like a disappointment. Maybe it's not really bad, I just have high expectations from the author now. 🤔

I did set a Goodreads goal but since I'm a (very) slow reader, I set it for just 20. I usually end up reading between 25 and 30 books a year, but this year I haven't even managed my goal of 20. Need to read one more to get there. Although, I have read a couple of big books this year, and tried new authors, so I count that as a win.😃

I really need to read that book one of these days.

That was my case too, a few years back. I still fall back into old habits once in a while and it's so very difficult to get out of it. This book club is definitely helping me with that. I also joined one on GR. I'll most probably start reading with them too, from Jan, 2021.

I wanted to but never actually got to reading Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys even though our school library had a lot of those books too. I was a victim of what Shanam has called the "Familiar Author Vortex". 😆 I didn't even read those shiny, new HP books that my classmates were so crazy about and kept insisting I must read. All for Enid Blytons.

With the After movies, it's terrible. I haven't read the books so Idk about that but the movies, like you said, they are so bad its good. 😳

Have you started My Dark Vanessa? Wow, looking forward to know what you think of it. 😃

@Unique Sheep: Oh, I love enemies to lovers/hate to love trope the most too!

On that note, my question is

Q: What are all of your most favorite romance trope?

I love the "enemies to lovers" trope too (Pride and Prejudice❤️). Also like "friends to lovers", and some others like "secret billionaire". But I have to say, most of my romance reads have been from fanfics, not real books.😆 I have read only a very few romance novels.

i wish i could read a book a day man :P

My favs are haters to lovers, alpha males, dark romance...basically i need a passionate intimate love story which would keep me glued. I have tolerance for everything except cheating and physical abuse.

Trust me its not a good habit, especially when you are reading on your phone 😒.

We have quite similar taste @unique.sheep. If I am reading trash it needs to be good trash. The story needs to be good. In real life i wont be dating a mafia but in my books I love a alpha male and the lady love who brings him to his knees. 😆

@Shreya: I’m waiting for your opinion on It Ends With Us.

Toxic love stories are a huge turn off. When I was going through a phase of reading romances, all the highly rated/recommended ones happened to be of this alpha male who mistreated the female but she went back to him nonetheless. I read so many of them with the expectation that one of them will be different and hardly any of them were with the exception of It Ends With Us and a couple of others. I’ve been put off reading romances for this very reason. My problem with these kind of romances is they normalise this sort of behaviour which makes girls think it’s okay to be treated like that.

I’m halfway through My Dark Vanessa and I’m liking it. It’s disturbing and creepy and I’m waiting to see how it pans out. I should finish it in a couple of days.

I think everyone loves the hate to love romance trope. It’s done to death but still doesn’t seem to get old. I like slow burn romances, I hate the instant love romances. As for characters, I used to like alpha male leads but now I find the slightly dorky male leads also appealing. As for female leads, I love female characters who are sassy and have a spine.
