@UNIQUE. SHEEP The fall away series consists of 5 books of three different couples who are friends. The first book in this series is Bully. It's haters to lovers kind of book.

@Anam I agree with you. Beautiful disasters portrays toxic relationship. It's not a great book by any standard. It's trash but the kind of trash you enjoy watching. It's like reality TV these days or junk food. You know it's bad but you end up having it because you enjoy it. 😆

Another book like that is the After series by Anna Todd which is so popular that movies have been made on the first two books. Books like these are an anti thesis of what a romance should be. It’s like watching bad movies because they are so bad that they are actually entertaining.

For me the experience of reading Beautiful Disaster was like reading 50 shades all over again😆

Ugly Love was the first CoHo book I read and I disliked it. It’s a surprise that I actually ended up reading more of her books after that. I guess I had more patience earlier on to give an author chance even though I didn’t like a book of theirs.

Or maybe you had hope that shes a good writer so you wanted to change your opinion of her by reading a better book😆

I actually want to try out the dark romance genre next (nothing that glorifies toxic relationships though like cheating and abuse)

I love haters to lovers stories

What’s everyone reading these days?

I’m still reading My Dark Vanessa and taking my time with it.

Did any of you set a Goodreads reading goal? Are you far from completing your goal or have you already met the goal you set?
I am 3 books away from completing my goal. I really hope I’m able to make it.

Take your time in reading Anxious People. Whenever I push myself to read a book when I’m going through a reading slump I don’t enjoy the book.

It’s decided. You and Diya are picking the Fantasy BOTM for March. I had earlier said it needs to be a standalone but it’s okay if it’s part of a series (just not a series with more than 5 books).

Sidney Sheldon was my go to author when I was in college. I think I’ve read all his books. My favourites were The Sands of Time, Tell Me Your Dreams, Master of the Game and The Doomsday Conspiracy.

Yes yes. I am planning to listen to It Ends With Us only. I have heard quite a lot about it so I am hopeful. Let's see.

I still haven't finished Anxious People though I think I am almost done. I am extremely busy rn so even if I have some free time, I just catch up on sleep. 😆

Oh, I am looking forward to it.

I am adding those books to my tbr as well. Very excited!

About Dec BOTM, Crazy Rich Asians is a book I have heard so many people talking about but never paid attention to what it is actually about! 😆 I am very interested.

@Unique Sheep: The Girl on the Train is good but I found her other novel, Into The Water better.

And, as for your question, if a book is 5 star for me, I definitely will check out their other works.

@Diya: Gone Girl is a favourite of mine! I was just getting into thrillers back then and still vividly remember how it made me feel.

It's not once in a while for me. I am reading fanfictions all the time. I need to be stopped. 😆

Oh yes yes, I have read many of Nancy Drew and Enid Blyton books. By the time our school library had stocked up on Hardy Boys, I grew out of it.

I don't think her books fit my taste anymore. I disliked PS I Love You so much but really liked If You Could See Me Now when I read it two years ago.

I haven't read the entire series but I have read Bully. I think it's Penelope's debut isn't it? Because it showed. Never did a character frustrate me as much as the female protagonist did. It was in first person I think but I still never understood the reasoning behind her actions. The author also handled the female friendships poorly. Don't get me wrong, I love interesting dynamics but 🤔

Punk 57 by the same author is excellent though!

@Anam: I agree. Write about toxic love stories all you want but the moment you start glorifying it, it becomes a very huge problem.

With the After movies, it's terrible. I haven't read the books so Idk about that but the movies, like you said, they are so bad its good. 😳

Have you started My Dark Vanessa? Wow, looking forward to know what you think of it. 😃

@Unique Sheep: Oh, I love enemies to lovers/hate to love trope the most too!

On that note, my question is

Q: What are all of your most favorite romance trope?
