He has always been like this I don't find him suspicious at all he never takes anything around him serious. Remember during the frame house sequence when Bani was unconscious he said he wants her to be strong, and he doesn't like seeing her weak? He even told Meera off before for the same. Veer love strong Bani he just doesn't want to see her all vulnerable and weak he told her she's Adi Naagin and no normal serpent, and she can handle the biggest problem.

Same here. I did not find anything odd. It's his expressions which look so dubious, otherwise uska intentions kabhi galat nahi hote. Woh kabhi Bani ko intentionally hurt nahi kar sakta aur na karega.
