Chapter 16

Life brings you to your knees. It brings you lower than you think you can go.

But if you stand back up and move forward,

if you go just a little farther, you will always find love.

Ridhima was enjoying the breeze of the fresh air with a smile on her face. Vansh reaches to the place takes the chair beside her. He can see she is enjoying the breeze. It's like as if she is a free bird now. It should irk him but somehow it is giving him a sense of peace which he lost long back. Yet, he brushed his thoughts and asks,

"What are your plans after the divorce?"

Ridhima gets startled with the voice, looks beside and see Vansh. Seeing him she relaxes, smiles at him and says,

"Do you realize it's been ages we spoke with each other?"

Vansh doesn't want to give an ear to this and asks,

"I have asked you something, Ridhima."

"To find love,"

says Ridhima

"What?"

asks Vansh

"Don't worry. I'm not saying that I will fall in love with someone. Yes, that might also happen if life wants. But for now, I want to love myself."

says Ridhima

"Didn't you loved enough?"

asks Vansh

"I always wanted to be loved by someone. But never once thought my love would be enough for me. I have learned in a hard manner. I should listen to lesson life has taught right?"

replies Ridhima.

"You always listen to life, you cannot set your life,"

says Vansh.

Ridhima smiles and says,

"The only truly reliable narrator is life itself. But life itself is also completely unreliable because it is constantly misdirecting and misleading us and taking us on this journey where it is impossible to predict where it is going to go next ... Life as the ultimate Unreliable Narrator.”

"Why are you telling me this?"

asks Vansh

"Never think life can set you right, Vansh. Remember I told you once and telling you again, never feel like God. Because life can change all your plans in a single moment. Life can make lies as truth and truth as lies. Life can do anything. One should have a healthy respect for life."

replies Ridhima

With anger evident in his voice, Vansh asks,

"Seriously, what are you going to do if I sign the divorce papers?"

"Is that what you want, Vansh?"

asks Ridhima

"You have asked for it. Don't push it on to me",

says Vansh

"But, aren't we already living as a divorced couple, which you might not have noticed but I did,"

says Ridhima

"Oh, really"

replies Vansh

"I want to gift you the golden gun Vansh but I cannot kill someone that too the person whom I ... "

her silence answered the turmoil which was raised in Vansh due to the divorce conversation. Yet he covers his emotions and says,

"The golden gun, wow, Ridhima. You feel I'm betraying you."

asks Vansh

Ridhima locks her eyes into his and with the power emerging from her and confidence-boosting she questions,

"Are you not? Yesterday you went on date with Ragini. Please, Vansh. Now don't say I'm lying and all. It's quite evident. I can see what you feel for Ragini. Do you need to spoil all our three lives?"

Vansh goes silent and looks at Ridhima and says,

"You will hear my answer at the dining table tonight"

and leaves from the place.

Ridhima who watches him leaving with a smile on her face says to herself, "I know what you will answer."

At night

Everyone was present at the table including Ragini. For the first time, everyone's feelings were almost quite similar regarding Ridhima. Chanchal and Aryan who wanted to kill Ridhima were also feeling bad for her today. However, more than that they were feeling happy for Ridhima will be out of the house because since a couple of days everyone has noticed how Vansh has been behaving with Ridhima.

The most worried person on the table was Anupriya. Kabir hasn't told her about his meeting with Ragini. She feels Ridhima has though broken up with Kabir yet she trusts him. If Vansh accepts the divorce, then everything they have planned will get ruin.

The two saddest people on the table were Dadi and Sia. They don't want Ridhima to leave the house but seeing Vansh's behaviour towards her in past days if she has taken the decision that says she is standing up for her self-respect. They cannot ask a girl to sacrifice her self-respect and stay with them while her husband spends time with his ex.

Vansh along with Ragini reaches to the table and take their seat much to the displeasure of others. After some time, Ridhima and Sejal came down and took their seats at the farthest of the table. Ridhima looks at Vansh while he looks back at her and says,

"I'm ready to divorce Ridhima."

"I'm ready to divorce Ridhima" something broke inside Ridhima's heart and tears formed in her eyes. Sejal understood her pain and put her hand on Ridhima shoulder and said,

"We are with you."

Ridhima looked at everyone who was looking at her. She looks at Vansh and everyone and says,

"Thank you, Vansh"

Vansh didn't expect to hear a thank you from her. He felt quite uneasy but his brain said, "Maybe you didn't complete the betrayal process. Don't let emotions overpower you." He agrees to it and moves towards Ridhima and asks,

"What is that you want in alimony?"

Sejal looks at Vansh with a weird expression and thought, "What is that you can give her Vansh. She is my friend. I can give her anything if she wants. My brother adores her. He can give her anything if she asks him. Even your empire we can give as a gift to Ridhima. Here, he is asking Ridhima what she wants in return?" with an eye roll.

"Nothing, Vansh,"

says Ridhima

"Common Ridhima ask something. Bungalow, car and money. Considering you are an orphan you need to leave a better life."

says Vansh

For the first time, Dadi and Sia didn't take the insult very well. Not that things like that haven't been said in that house to Riddhima before. But never had Vansh used such words for her before that even rest of the Rai Singhanias were shocked to an extent. Dadi was the first one to react and shouts,

"Shut up Vansh. How dare you address her as an Orphan. Her grandmother is still alive and that is me. Her relationship with you might get finished because of a few papers, but, mine with her. Never."

Dadi words have brought tears in Ridhima eyes while Sejal stands beside Ridhima and says,

"She was never an orphan. She has us, Mr Vansh Rai Singhania. So better not repeat that word ever again."

Vansh can feel an unknown power radiating from Sejal yet, he thought what this kitten can do to him and turns towards his Dadi and says,

"I understand you all are connected with her emotionally. But after the divorce, I don't want anyone from the family being in touch with Ridhima. We all must and should forget Ridhima."

"Bhai, I don't think you have taken the wise decision,"

says Ishani. She never liked Riddhima even today she doesn't give a damn about her. She would have been more than happy had the reason behind the divorce would have been something else but she knew somewhere or the other Ragini is the reason for it.

Vansh smirks at her and says,

"When I got married to her, you said the same. You never wanted her in my life and when it is happening, you are saying I have taken a wrong decision Ishani"

asks Vansh

"But,"

says Ishani

"Ishani, stop it. Also, I'm letting everyone know that once our divorce is done, I'm going to marry Ragini"

declares Vansh making everyone eyeballs pop out from their eye sockets.

"What? How can you do this? She betrayed you Bhai"

asks Sia

"I know why she did it. I understand her love and it's between me and her"

replies Vansh

He moves toward Ridhima and says,

"As we are signing divorce I would again give you time until lawyer comes tomorrow. Think and let me know what you want and ah, please leave my room. I think you can shift with your friend"

saying so Vansh leaves from the place.

While everyone leaves the place with a sympathetic look on their faces it was Sejal who stood with her. Dadi can see how broken Ridhima was. She is at least happy that Ridhima has got a true friend.

Next Morning

"What? How come this has happened Maa"

asks Kailash from the phone

"What I can say to you, Kailash. These days due to Ragini, Vansh has neglected Ridhima. Vansh is a changed man now. I don't know what magic Ragini has done on Vansh that the man who always knew the difference between right or wrong is committing such a huge blunder"

says Dadi.

"Why don't you talk with Ridhima once. She is a nice girl, Maa, she will understand"

replies Kailash

"Kailash, a wife can give her life to and for her husband but can never give her husband to anyone,"

says Dadi

"Maa, I will try to come back as soon as possible. Hope God do some miracle and grant sometime"

says Kailash and ends the call leaving a worried Dadi the other side.

In the main hall

Vansh has called his lawyers while the rest of the family has already reached to the hall to see what Vansh was going to do. Aryan and Chanchal were waiting to see what Ridhima is going to ask him as alimony and will he be able to give it to her?

Ridhima and Sejal reach down and sees a couple of lawyers already sitting around Vansh. Sejal turns her head aside and murmurs,

"Showoff people".

Ridhima nudges her and moves near Vansh and says,

"I have called my lawyers too, please wait for a few minutes."

Vansh laughs at her comment and says,

"Who did you call Ridhima? Pleaders who sit under the tree. Do you know all these lawyers are highly paid ones? They would only come on the call of mine."

"I understand. But I want my legal lawyer to check those papers and all"

says Ridhima

"Fine, where is your lawyer then,"

asks Vansh

"There he is!"

says Sejal

The whole legal team sees him and get shocked to see Mr Virendra Pratap Chauhan is here to handle a small divorce matter. Vansh was too shocked to see the person standing in front of him and thought "How come Mr Virendra is here?"

Lawyer1: Hello Mr Virendra, you here?

Virendra: Yes, I'm the lawyer for Dr Ridhima

Lawyer 2: How come you are with her Sir?

Virendra: Why not?

Lawyer 3: I mean sir, you are such a busy criminal lawyer yet you came for a civil case, so...

Virendra: Ridhima has once cured my wife with her physiotherapy skills. That day I was going to pay her more. But, she refused. So I owe one to her. Yesterday night she asked my help to find a lawyer for her. I assured her I will help her instead of some random lawyer. Now if things are cleared can we sit and talk.

Vansh has never expected to see Mr Virendra Pratap Chauhan standing in his house as Riddhima's lawyer. He is a lawyer whom he always wanted to be part of his legal team. Because he never lost a single case in his life. He is the only lawyer who has access to the UNO where he can be part of any country court in the world. He never imagined Ridhima has such a reach due to her job.

"Nice to meet you, Mr Chauhan,"

says Vansh

"Glad to see you Mr Vansh,"

says Virendra and sits to discuss.

"So what is that your client is expecting from us, Mr Chauhan,"

asks Lawyer 1.

"Let her speak,"

says Virendra

Taking a deep breath Ridhima starts,

"I don't expect any alimony from him. However, once I leave this house, I never want to meet Vansh in my life ever again. Considering it is a small world, we might, I repeat we might see each other at some point of life, then I don't want Vansh to come near me. I want him to maintain a distance and behave like a stranger. The moment he crosses the line, he would be in prison. I also don't want any person from the family connected with me. The moment we part away, we are going to cut all ties and relationships between people from this house and me. If anyone wants to meet me then it would be in the presence of a court lawyer. Over and above, the simple statement is, I don't want Vansh back in my life ever again."

The entire family stood to a standstill. They never and ever had expected such a statement from Ridhima. Though Ridhima said this to cut all ties with his family, Dadi thinks it's because of Vansh comment yesterday where he said none should have a relation with her, made her take this step and cries bitterly leaving everyone in the room shocked.

Sia goes with Dadi while rest of the family stands there to see what would be Vansh's decision on this. Vansh himself never expected such a statement from her. He was happy that she has made this. As she said they might meet in the future, but he never wants her in his life again. He has Ragini now. Lost in Ragini's thoughts a half-smile came on his face

while Virendra Chauhan claps his hands before his face to bring him out from the La La Land.

Virendra: Mr Vansh, welcome back. So, are you okay with my client's request?

Vansh: Of course. I'm ready

Virendra: Now, what is the reason for the divorce. What's the problem?

Vansh: We are not compatible with each other

Ridhima looks at him with that statement where Vansh looks another side.

Virendra: Court won't give divorce on that basis. So is there any cause? Like affairs or she cannot conceive; maybe she is characterless or mentally unfit for being a wife

Vansh cannot hear Ridhima's defamation and shouts on Virendra,

"Enough, I'm not here to listen while you continue to humiliate my wife Mr Virendra. She is a pure and innocent girl, understood. She has never hurt anyone in her life. Her character is way beyond my words. She is a God gifted child, Mr Chauhan. So, hold your tongue."

Now, this was another big shock that the family received. Everyone had one feeling in their hearts, "This guy has lost it." The person who was happy listening to those words was Ridhima herself. She never thought she would ever be hearing those words from Vansh.

Sejal is another person who stood like a statue. This Vanshi boy is unpredictable as he says. Does he even know with his statement, it would be not easy to get a divorce?

Virendra: Wonderful Mr Vansh. But, if you say the same words in the court, I must say, you would never get a divorce.

Vansh: I won't lie about her character to move away from her. I'm not paying you guys for defaming her in the name of divorce.

Ridhima is happy. Yes, this is the Vansh she loved. This is the man she loves still even today. If he showers love on her in this way, then it would be unbearable for her to teach him a lesson and later leave him

Lawyer: Mr Vansh, Mr Chauhan is saying the right thing. We need to say something to the court to grant an easy divorce to us.

Vansh: Who said I want an easy divorce. Take your time. But as said I don't want to hear any bad thing about her. She needs to leave this house with dignity.

Virendra (smiles): I have never seen such a sight. Okay then, you guys need to be under the same shelter, share the same room for another six months and then tell that same thing to the court that you both are not compatible. Then the court will grant the divorce. Agree?

Both Vansh and Ridhima looked at each other and then nod their head to the lawyers.

Virendra: Okay, then, before I leave, do sign the papers. So I will submit in the court and also remember the statement which Ridhima said.

While everyone leaves the house Vansh stands before Ridhima,

"I understand we want to have a divorce. But Ridhima, remember that you are Mrs Vansh Rai Singhania until you leave me. I need to respect my name and myself"

he says and leaves Ridhima all alone with Sejal.

Virendra Chauhan sits in his car and makes a call,

"Ridhay everything went according to our plan. Whatever I said everyone has believed. But, yes, I'm astounded to see what Vansh said about Ridhima. I must say he is going to regret in future"

says Chauhan

"Thanks, Uncle. I can foresee Vansh Rai Singhania's future. But, what one can do. He is blinded with revenge and destroying himself. Never expected such a thing from a man like VR. But, you never know"

says Ridhay

"Okay, then Ridhay. I will close this and will try to see Ridhima get a divorce even before they complete the six months"

says Chauhan

"Thanks, again,"

says Ridhay

"You might be grandmaster Vansh. Yet, Life is a great grandmaster of everyone. You can never escape Life, Never"

thought Ridhay.

At this point i really dont want to see Riansh together....like Riddhima deserves someone far better than him. ...... Have always been a Riansh shipper bt not in this case...😪
