These have been on my list since forever lol.

I also really wanna read The Girl on the train and books by Nicholas Sparks. Especially a walk to remember because I love that movie!

I will start crazy rich asians after I am done with It Ends With Us! Hopefully that wont be too long since im hooked lol.

Question: If you guys enjoy a certain book, do you tend to go look for more books by the same writer or just move onto another one when you are done?

I loved the first half of Anxious People. After that I am not sure what happened, either it just dragged or I lost focus🤔

My favorite parts were the interviews.

What put me off was how the book kept jumping from present to past. It was hard to keep up lol.

Hey Anam.

Yes I am going to reread "It ends with us". I haven't read this as many times as other colleen hoover books. So it will be enjoyable for me.

And great pick for this month. I have watched the crazy rich Asians movie several times. It's so colourful. I would love to read the book to know more about it. Can't wait!!!

Anxious people

This was a weird book. When I say weird what I mean is that while reading it I was like, what is happening? Why is this happening? What I am supposed to do with that information? This was pure chaos. But the sort of chaos you end up liking it when everything falls into place. I have never read something like this.

It seemed like the author couldn't decide what genre he is going for. It was a cocktail of humour , self help and suspense genres. It took me so many days to get into this book. It was boring at times but very introspective at others. One needs to read it more than one time to find deeper meanings in there.

My favorite character is Estelle. I don't agree with her though when she says nobody sees her. I SEE YOU ESTELLE. She is so romantic and kind.

I loved the build up of suspense in the book. What I don't like is that it was too long. The editor couldn't make it crisp so that we can get hooked. The three scenarios going on at the same time were a pain to catch up.

I agree with Anam. This was one touching book with beautiful quotes. I think in future this will be regarded as a classic.

And this book and those idiots (who were not actually idiots) gets 4 ✨ from me.

Thank you!!!

I finished Anxious People today. It was a good book but I feel that I would have enjoyed it way more if I was actually in a reading mood. While reading it, I just wanted to get it over with, which is not a good way to read books.

Even then I did like the characters and the way they all somehow connect to each other. The timelines were a little confusing at times. While in most of the book, it alternated between past and present and was easy to keep track of events, in the last few chapters it became a bit difficult since we had the past, present, and future.smiley29 Another thing that got me to a complete, sudden stop during my reading was the unanticipated change of gender of the bank robber. For more than half the book the author uses "he" for the robber and that sort of made me believe that the story is bound to end up that way because it was so definitely pointed out in the text and not kept as a vague gender-neutral entity, and writers don't usually transpose that sort of thing), but then Backman had to go and flip the usual writing styles and make it a "her".

Not that I'm complaining. After all...

Girl Power!!smiley36

I read The Kite Runner last year. What a book! Though it's not a 5 star read for me, I still remember every detail of it. It leaves a mark!

I can't wait for you to read Home Before Dark. You should read Lock Every Door. Content wise, I found Lock Every Door scarier but HBD is more fun, imo.

I keep postponing reading these books, The Kite Runner and Home Before Dark more than anything. I have also wanted to read Defending Jacob and Gone Girl since forever, but never get to it. And then I got 6 new books from mom on Diwali. Too many books, too little time.😆

Hey, thanks for the new rec. I hadn't heard of Lock Every Door before now. 😃

You too? Fanfics are actually what distracted me this time. I try so hard to avoid them but once in a while,😆 I can't resist.

I know. Later books of HP are more young adult but I think PJO is fully middle grade. Anyways, I would like to read some middle grades next year. Most of them sound very fun and who doesn't enjoy saving the day trope? Nevermoor is on my list too. Have you read that?

Wayward Children is a fantasy series. They are extremely short and is known for the atmosphere and the world building.

I haven't read Nevermoor. Never even heard of it before. But I haven't read many middle-grade books, except HP, PJ series, and a lot of Enid Blyton's books that I don't even remember the names of. When I was in school I wanted to read Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew but I moved on to other novels before that. Have you read any of these?

I checked out Wayward Children. It sounds interesting and is now on my tbr. Thanks for the rec...again!

I have heard a lot of praise about A Thousand Splendid Suns too but for now, I'm saving it for later since I'm so lagging in my reading. I'll start with The Kite Runner and then get to the other books.

It looks like we all have some books in common that we'd like to read. That should make it easier. Hopefully, we'll at least manage to put a dent scratch in our enormous TBRs in 2021.😆
