You guys are finishing Anxious People, and I just finished The Shining.😆

I have to say, I loved it. I found it scary in some parts and a total drag in others. It took me so long to cover those slow parts but I do understand why they were necessary. It is only the second horror story I've read so far (the other being Carrie), so I don't have a lot to compare with but I liked it a lot better than Carrie, which wasn't scary at all.

About the characters: I liked Jack and Hallorann the best. I'm still not sure if Jack had any shining. Wendy was just an okayish character and Danny's character was nice except at some points throughout the story I felt like he spoke and acted like a much older child than he was supposed to be in the story, even before the Overlook incidents which I assume must have forced him to grow faster in those two or three months they were there.

Overall, I'll give it 4 stars.

I’m glad you liked The Shining. I’m planning on watching the movie soon till the book is still fresh in my mind. I’d love to see how it translates onscreen. I liked the book but don’t like the idea of a sequel to it.

I finished Anxious People last night and it won’t take you a long time to finish the book. Some of the chapters are really short.

It’s not a very long book and some chapters are pretty short, so you can finish it. Best of luck! 👍🏼

For the month of December I’ll be picking out 2 books.

Since many here wanted to read Colleen Hoover’s books, I thought we’d read probably her best book in the month of December. The book is It Ends With Us. Since it’s not the BOTM so there is no compulsion to read or discuss it.

Since next month’s book is a light read I thought we could have another book to read besides that.

Aparna, have you read the books in the series? Red Dragon as a movie was good. Despite being the prequel to The Silence of the Lambs it was made into a movie after the stupendous success of the TSOTL.

@Unique.Sheep: If you have to choose between watching the movies or reading the books, for once I’d suggest watching the movies instead.

Okay well I really wanted to read Ugly Love but its fine...seeing that you chose a colleen hoover book made me all excited...I already started reading It Ends With Us and im loving it!

I can't wait to reread it ends with us. Imagine me jumping on my bed. LOL

You must have other obligations, I pretty much do nothing else.

I thought we’d start with Colleen Hoover’s best book and based on that read other books of hers in February.
With It Ends With Us, I think there are very few who don’t like this book. So I’m glad you are added to the list of ones who like it. Hope you like it as much when you are done with it.
