Being a upsc aspirant it hurts me to see modern history of India getting butchered. But while I weep for the blunders I want to understand why I might be able to forgive them at least a bit. Despite being a period drama, it's not about the freedom struggle itself but about an odd couple who will be torchbearers to the then society. So historical accuracy probably flies out of the window. They are focussing more on Gandhi (and very erroneously as well) and less on the brave leaders of Bengal because of the theme they are trying to send out. They believe Gandhi fits it all. The constant atma-nirbhar jaap. The search for truth. Saada jeevan uchha vichar and all that trope. And clearly research is their Achilles heel. Gandhi started wearing dhoti in 1920(as far as I remember) after a lecture in a Madras college. He was younger than he is shown in the promo. His views on women education is known to us all. As some one said it's 8th standard basics. All that is true and I agree to all of it. But it's an ITV show at the end of the day. A better show but still an Indian soap. So I think I can find it in my heart to forgive their humongous blunders to see bondita and anirudh find their happiness

they aren't even aware of basic Indian History taught in high school classes. Pathetic.

Dude if it was about some other mythology or even history of any empire still it can be forgiven regarding unclear scriptures and artifacts and multiple versions of the same dynasty sagas.

But this Modern Indian History!! Its so clearly available for any small kid to read and understand and such a huge production's house creative team, while taking a period show should have known better!
