Have any of you watched this movie? I know it is not a pleasant theme and the film itself or the way the plot was filmed is very confusing, the writers for sure missed out on delivering their message in a way that general audiences can see the movie and get what is happening, I think you have to be from a culture that has a history of infanticide practice in order to comprehend even a small part of the movie and even so, it is still not a cohesive script. So the way it is done it does not work for international audiences and for those who are of the culture the film may be nothing but a sore, a reminder of not so pleasant things. BUT those negative things aside, I appreciated how it was filmed, the muted and stark panorama, the camera work in capturing some of the scenes and details is excellent.
For me the best part of the film is the cast, Ms. Azmi and the rest are good at their craft, however the child Riva Arora is a complete actress who could carry the film by herself without any famous faces, she delivers her character with aplomb and command as if she was far older than her young age, I know she has worked from a young age, on top of that she has a beautiful face with asymmetrical features that the camera loves, so she shines in every scene and from every angle. I was impressed with her performance.
I think that if she is given more and more good scripts as she grows, she will be a tremendous actress, I am looking forward to see her in many other films and hope that the film industry does not ruin or in any way corrupt the innocence she portrays, and they allow her to develop thru every stage as she grows and matures.
