Movies are a point of view. They are stories.

News are not a point of view. You cannot add your own mirch masala to it and make things up and add things for entertainment. Journalistic integrity is a requirement storytellers do not need to have.

And no movies have always affected the society wether you want to admit or not , it has certain effect and when something like racism , casteism , sexism and homophobia are normalised in these movies it affects society .. when someone has large platform it’s their duty to make sure what kind of content they are showing ..

So yes people every right to call out Bollywood and these movies ..

And that is exactly why in Hollywood people ask for representation, people ask not to glorify problematic stuff in movie while in India 😆 here we are defending all the problematic and shitty things in the name ‘ it’s just a movie ‘

Bollywood movies have always been called out. You will not be the first one to start. Constructive criticism is always welcome everywhere. What’s not welcome is slander and mudslinging and filth spreading.

I replied to a comment saying it’s just a movie .. and no just stating facts isn’t slander . Bollywood celebs and movies are problematic and we all know that , high time people call them out ..

And isn’t the reason why people like Salman Khan are still being called superstars and earn crores is cos of blind fans who have overlooked every thing and continue to support people like him ?

and people should call out censor , they will ban movies on lesbian love story ( the fire ) but give free pass to all these regressive and shitty movie .. and just cos censor board is also at fault doesn’t mean Bollywood isn’t

On what grounds ? Defamation ? That is laughable . May be these 'actors' should look into the dialogues they have been mouthing for years in their movies. They should also look into the web-series that are being produced by some of the signatories.

Movies and News are the same thing.

Just as a movie has a right to show only one point of view which Bollywood has been doing for quite a few decades, News channels also have a right to air only their point of view.

Ideally it should not happen but Bollywood has been doing it for a very long time and now that tables have been turned on them by some news channels using their own tactic they are whining.

Why is it so difficult for some to distinguish between FICTION and NEWS. One is supposed to be made up stories even if they have some basis in reality. The other is supposed to be factual. Period. Defamation, slander and libel by the media are actionable offenses. If the media wants to make up stories and air them they should get into the film or TV business.
