If it entertains them how is it gobar for them...maybe for you but not for them...Movies are made for entertainment....If I get entertained....I got what I wanted....for me one of the critically acclaimed movie of SRK...Devdas is gobar....because I couldn't even finish it....it just depends.....u can't make a blanket statement based on what you like...

Just because you think its cringefest, doesn't mean it is.

@bold, bhavnao mein zyada hi beh gaye. His last film Dabangg 3 earned 134 Crores. Was it 5 times more than the collections of movies of established actors?

And the question of the above poster was "how can anyone watch?", not "how many people watch?" that you're showing him/her figures or collections, but I can understand as that's the only defense people have for Salman.

Fun fact : Every high achieving person i ever met have watched only the so called cringefest movies . The intelligent audience that we call these days are just wannabes.

True achievers view movies as entertainment , they derive their value of intellect and education in their work and personal /professional achievemnets . Sure they appreciate a movie like 'ex machina' and prolly take their kids along too , but they dont feel intelligent just because they dont watch a salman movie and appreciate a "Andhadhun" ...thats a wannabe's life.

It's the cinephiles, critics, and film students who value "good" cinema. Most people, even if they are nuclear engineers, evaluate cinema as escapism or entertainment.

I remember a couple when I watched TZH in theaters. The boyfriend/husband was too snobby who kept on talking about Nolan and Fincher, when the girlfriend/wife was enjoying the film. For every Nolan, there is a Kubrick, and for every Fincher, there is a Hitchcock.

If you're only into films of Ray, Godard, Tarkovsky, Bergman, etc., you could be spared from being snobby. But if you're going to talk about Nolan, Fincher, Mendes, etc., and act like you understand deep cinema, it's snobbery.

Lots of people watch movies for the entertainment. Majority don't want to be informed, they want to be entertained.

Cinema is a medium of entertainment. If people want to watch Radhe for the entertainment, there's nothing wrong. If you want to study human behavior via cinema, you're better off watching Bergman or Kubrick.

We don't go into Bollywood or Hollywood entertainers expecting to be enriched with wisdom. We watch it because we want to have a fun time. If people can't, don't watch it. Get hold of world cinema. Nobody is forcing anyone here.

Also, There is hardly anything out there that anyone let alone a film maker needs to educate an average human being . There is nothing really a filmmaker can tell us right now with a movie that we already know of.

sometimes audience dont mind film makers making movies about some already known information if it gives some visceral experience.

I don't see you criticizing masala genre as Dabangg and Bajrangi Bhaijaan are too an out and out masala movie. So don't know on what track some members are going here by bringing things like education and intellect using your one post.

As far as I see, you don't have a problem with the genre and you never talked about liking deep cinema. But just because it's masala, that doesn't mean you give anything in the name of entertainment and you have full right to criticize a movie's quality.

Nothing wrong in liking Hollywood masala movies and hating Bollywood ones. Because maybe you just think Hollywood does it better. And if some people think it's only because of the inferiority complex because of white supremacy then that's their problem.

Some have a problem with people judging movies because they dislike a movie they like, when they have full right to do it. But they don't think twice before judging a person for liking or disliking a movie. Everyone hating a Bhai movie becomes a wannabe or snob lmao. Then these same people pass expert comments on movies acting like the very wannabes they are criticizing.

Maybe speilberg and James Cameron for Terminator. Not everyone who makes high budget movies are masala filmmakers. For me masala directors in Hollywood are someone like Michael Bay

So what do you think? Bhai is immortal who is never going to have a downfall?

His last three films Race 3, Bharat and Dabangg 3 all were duds. He's already on a downslope.

And his contemporaries Aamir, Akshay and Ajay are still there and kicking.
