People swooning over Hrithik's looks in the movie forget that most of the screentime Hrithik gets in the film are in which he's doing some action sequences.
They stole the show doesn't mean they were the lead actors. The term "stealing the show" itself is used when a side character overshadows the lead.
Hrithik was first billed and had the most screen time in Dhoom 2. He was the lead. Abhishek though was more secondary lead than supporting, his screen time wasn't that much less - it that's he was so eclipsed.
From the director Sanjay Gadhvi (If I recall the flack was from Amitabh)
People were also surprised that it is so Hrithik-centric and that apparently, Abhishek got a short shrift.
I have received a lot of flak that Abhishek has been overshadowed by Hrithik in the movie. But how can I help it? Anyway, the Dhoom formula is heavily in favour of the bad guy. On paper, Hrithik’s role is 55 per cent, but with his intense commitment, focus and hard work, he has made it a one-horse race. Hrithik’s simply unbelievable in the movie and he’s gone ahead of Abhishek. He owns the film.
