Chapter 28: Rescue
"Calm the hell down, Jalal. This is not helping, you might as well crash us into something." Parth exclaimed. He put his hand on the dashboard although he wore the seatbelt.
"Jalal, slow down. We're looking for him." I heard Kartik Pathak scold me through the phone. Parth had called him up the moment we heard the recording.
"I swear I'm going to kill that son of a bitch." I swore.
I pressed the accelerator and drove faster towards the location that police tracked of Sharif-ud-din or Atif as he goes by now. The moment I stopped at the farmhouse that he was supposedly in, I got out of the car. I saw the guards at the gate of the farmhouse.
"Excuse me, who are you?" The guard asked.
"Look at me and tell me who the hell I am." I grabbed him collar. He soon realized who I was. "Open the bloody gate."
When he refused to open the bloody gate, I pushed him away and entered anyway. His screaming for me to stop alerts the goon Sharif-ud-din hired to catch them. The started running towards me to stop me but I dealt with them well.
I broke the first one's leg and he fell down howling in pain. Punched the second one and threw him against the third one. The fourth one tried to attack with a hockey stick. I caught it and kicked him. I hit the fifth on with the hockey stick and it broke into two pieces. I continued into the farmhouse while fighting. When two of them tried to block me at the stairs, I pushed them off the stairs.
Looking through the house while fighting the henchmen he hired, I finally saw him. Jodha was next to him. Her hands tied behind her back and legs tied. A few scratches were visible on him. Around 20 men around them.
"Jalal... Jalal... Jalal..." He stood up and clapped like a cliched bollywood villain. "I think this how it has to be. You and I will always be enemies forever."
"You're meant to be a coward forever, Sharif-ud-din. Oh, right. Atif. That's your name." I retorted.
"Mind your tongue, Jalal. You're in my area now. Remember the last time? Everything was yours last time, you were the King but now, now you're in my area. I'm the King here." He laughed.
"You're still that idiot nowhere you are. I'm still Jalal everywhere. To be honest, I do quite like the fear. To fight one man, you needed to hire around 60 men around the farmhouse." I chuckled.
"You don't have a sword now, Jalal. You're practically easy to beat now. You're all alone."
"Who says he's alone?" Parth came up. Behind him Nikhil, Abdul and Vishal showed up. A fight broke out. All of them fighting. Clearly only Nikhil and I had anything close to an idea on how to fight at all. Rest of the three were just giving what they could.
I kicked one of them between their legs. Kicked the second one who came towards me. I elbowed the third one. The fourth one came with a knife and I ducked the attack. I twisted his arm till he dropped the knife, before it hit the ground, I caught the knife. Stabbing the fifth one on his arm and shoulder, I kicked him away. Soon, I caught up with Sharif-ud-din. Parth snuck up somehow and freed Jodha.
He attacked. I caught his punch mid air. He tried to use his other hand and I caught it as well. I kneed him in the gut. Then punched him on the face. I smashed him against the wall. I was beating black and blue out of him when I was grabbed in a headlock from behind. I managed to free myself. I turned to see it was Vikrant Khurana.
"Oh, welcome. We were missing you." I taunted him. He tried to punch but it was nothing. "You call that a punch?" I asked.
"Let me try." I offered and punched him. He screamed loudly and winced.
"Jalal, your head." Nikhil shouted. I instantly put my arms around the back of my head and glass broke over my arms.
"You've always taken everything from me, Jalal. Everything I wanted was taken from me by you. I wanted to the most powerful man and you took that away. I wanted Heer and you took her away from me. I wanted to be the greatest businessman but you took that away from me as well. Even now, I wanted Jodha and you her away too. Since the moment I saw you and recognized you, I wanted to kill. I tried you know. But your luck shined. Your sister called the cops somehow and you survived. Then when you went to a trip to Agra, I tried to kill you in that very fort but it was foiled by Jodha who spotted the assassin and informed the authorities about him having weapons. You got away again. I tried to kill you with the bomb but again missed killing you." He raged. His eyes were red, he was bleeding from a few places.
"Freeze." The police turned up. His eyes widened in fear. The police heard his confession.
"Jalal, back off." Kartik uncle told me. The staring contest between me and Sharif-ud-din didn't die down. "Jalal...." He pulled me away.
He took me away with him downstairs. Vishal, Nikhil, Abdul and Parth followed.
"You all did good jobs, boys. Now, get yourself fixed up." He told us. I saw Jodha.
"Jalal..." Both of us hugged each other.
"You're alright?" I asked her and held her face.
"I'm okay." She assured. I looked at the boys. Nikhil looked fine enough. Abdul and Vishal were slightly bleeding. I walked up to them.
"You didn't have to fight when you knew you'll get badly injured." I told them.
"What's new about that? We used to get into fights in school all the time too. Didn't change much. We're still same. Regardless of the reason, if they fight you, they'll have to fight us too." Vishal pointed out. I sighed but smiled anyway. Jodha helped me bandage them. Soon, the medical team came up and they did the work. I had to get an injection considering that I was hit was vase.
"Thank you for coming to help me." Jodha thanked them.
"Bhabhi... its fine." They teased her. She hit them softly. They laughed. Everyone began to leave. Jodha and I sat in my car. As soon as we were the only one, Jodha wrapped her arms around me.
"Its okay." I assured and rubbed her back slowly. The kiss that followed made me forget everything else. We pulled away when we had to breathe.
"I don't think side of the road is a good idea to make out at." I teased.
