Exactly. Any politician that knows how to trigger the masses by creating hate and resentment towards others is able to come into power. People love being made to feel as if they are more deserving and better than other groups. Gentiles in Germany LOVED the Jew bashing and sense of superiority that Hitler gave them in the name of nationalism. Trump voters love that he spreads hate against minorities and immigrants. It makes the mainstream white people really happy no matter how much destruction he causes in all other areas. Modi is no different. No matter what a failure you may be in all aspects of life, Modi makes you feel good that at least you are a superior Hindu.

Populists know how to incite mobs and create fervor. Take a look at how much support Nazi rallies had and how much the German population loved them. They had created so much nastiness in people's hearts that neighbors who had lived their whole lives together had started snitching on each other.

People need to start reading history once in a while instead of useless propaganda and Whatsapp forwards.
