Consuming tobacco, alcohol or drugs does not make one character bad. People should stop the character assassination of these people.

However they are addictive substances

Tobacco and cigarettes are bad for you period.

Alcohol in small/normal quantities is fine especially in severe cold regions it helps you keep warm but it is a very addictive substance and alcohol addiction has severe consequences.

Marijuana has been known to ease pain, a lot of research is going on to figure how it can help. But it should only be given by a medical practitioner period.

There are so many problems with drugs right from psychotic illness to date rape to death. This is the reason why it is illegal.

I used to work as a volunteer in a rehab for alcohol and drug abuse and the people and experiences you see there is devastating to say the least.

Many of them can be functional alcoholic and drug abusers and no one would know except people who are very close to them.

This is a much more bigger and more complex problem.

Tobacco is consumed to suppress appetite, alcohol to numb pain, same for drugs to suppress appetite and pain.

No wonder that the movie and fashion industry consume them.

The root cause on why it is consumed should be known and steps taken to reform it, but it is going to go on for a few days of sensationalism , money exhorted and closing the issue.

There are deeper problems here that have to be death with but sadly it won't happen

But releasing names of public figures without charging them with anything, without filing a fir, without even calling them for investigation reeks of trying to run a public trial

You want to arrest them for drug use? Go ahead. Do it by the law. But a national agency should not be resorting to these questionable tactics.

The more this goes on the more obvious it becomes that this is just one giant circus to keep the public from asking uncomfortable questions from the govt.

Most of the national agencies are being weaponised by this government to use aganist their opponents. Deepika’s is a pukka political hit job. Visiting an anti- government JNU rally is her biggest offence. Since then, it’s just a matter of when she’ll be screwed for this.

The way BMC was used in Kangu’s case, to send her a message , the same way NCB is being used to send the message to Deepika and BW , in general.
