Ironically, this image is apt and reminds me of a hilarious story. Why I'm going to post this story .. I have no idea. I'm opening the gates of hell-teasing with this.
For those who don't know me - I'm a guy. That's important to the story.
Okay, so here goes. Oh god. 🤣 I'm regretting it from here already.
So in undergrad, I was taking public speaking as an elective course and we had to give intros on our partner's monologues. My partner's topic was on beauty pageants and I had to introduce her. Now there are two things you need to know about me: (1) I'm a procrastinator - which you should know by now, and (2) most of my best ideas come on the fly.
Now my introduction was pretty bare. It was a good rough sketch, but I didn't put time into it, I didn't know how others were going to present, and I was pretty shy so I wanted to play it safe.
Two presentations away and I started playing around with ideas on how I wanted to introduce my partner on her beauty pageant topic. A simple monologue wasn't going to cut it for me. I needed something crazy, something funny.
Finally it was time for me to take the stage. I walked to the front of the classroom, and I don't remember exactly what I said, but it was something along these lines.
*ehem* (that's me clearing my throat while in front of the class)
Ribbon Sash
*I put an invisible, imaginary ribbon over my body*
Tiara
*I fix an invisible, imaginary tiara on my head*
Smile
*I tilt my head, strike a pose, and flash the class a lovely smile*
And here to talk about beauty pageants and why they suck is
The class erupted in complete laughter (it was a class of 15 students I think).
I also tied for best introduction and was named the prettiest beauty pageant winner in the class.
🤣🤣
If I had come up with the idea to strut in front of the class at the time, I would have done that too. 🤣
