Probably appears like this because it was a long time ago, more than 5 years ago. But it was a huge deal then and even his endorsement deals with Snapdeal and another brand were cancelled. There are almost weekly twitter trends against him for this very reason even today.

Of course once Dangal released it was all forgotten. Which is how it should be I guess. Cancel culture helps neither side.
