I do agree on this because I struggled to get into this university and after I got accepted I realized some students it was really easier for them to get in at a young age too because their parents used to teach at the school or the teachers know their parents. Nepotism exists everywhere, I mean everyone wants their kids to succeed. But in the entertainment world it would be nice to see talented Or someone with X factor makes it. And in the medical world it would’ve been nice to see people who are passionate about the career or care about people make it.

Yea, doctors definitely get to mess up a few surgeries and still stay doctors. And they get a job just because they’re father or mother is a doctor. Yes, the same degree is passed down through generations.

Fair comparison, very valid point! When the time comes, she should get herself diagnosed, treated and operated by a doctor's kid who hasn't worked his ass off to be an expert.

My mom is a Doctor (dermatologist to be exact).

I had to finish high school and get into Uni

Did 4 years of undergrad in nursing minoring in human biology and chemistry

Did my MCAT, applied to med school and didn't get in because of how competitive it is in Canada.

Then worked and still work as a nurse and a formulations chemist to support myself while still applying to med school

Finally got in last September. Med School is another nightmare altogether. I live a poor persons life to afford the basics.

FYI, I have got absolutely no perks from my mother.

So I never got this analogy at all. There is years of education and training you must go through to become a doctor which you have to pay for. We aren't living a lavish lifestyle in the process either. I've never been poorer tbh. Starkids start off rich and become richer as they are handed a job.

I get this comparison because I have been to Dental school where I saw people in their early 20's getting in because they are rich, their parents know the teachers and the principals or used to be a teacher or used to be a doctor they know. Easy entrance they got compared to regular people who has been applying to the same university for years and never got accepted even though they are more passionate about the career.

They should not bring doctors into the nepotism debate, students that want to become doctors have to pass a whole list of exams before they are eligible to even apply for a place at medical school. I know many people that got really high grades and still did not get into medical school coz the competition is so high. Medicine is one of the toughest fields of get into and they assess you purely on your intellect and your ability to do the job. Having parents as doctors does not give anyone an advantage.

with Bollywood and even Hollywood it’s not the same, there is no real criteria set for what someone needs to have to get in, and having famous parents does give people an advantage

I think a better comparison would be with business families, many kids of business people go on to become ceos and have high ranks in companies simply because they are the son or daughter of the boss

All of these star kids would never made it if their parents didn’t give money to production team or use their family name to start their career.
