Film was good. Songs were the best part of the film. Aishwarya Rai looked gorgeous in songs. She acted nice also. It's about a rape victim and social stigma against her.
I never understood the plot.
I despise Aishwarya's father in this movie with a passion. I rewatched it a couple months back and literally wanted to knock sense into that pathetic old hypocrite. Apart from rapists, the possibility of people like him existing in today's world makes me shudder in disgust and disbelief.
All in all, I liked this movie cuz of the feel-good factor despite the violence she endures, Ash and her screen presence ... and the way Anil actively plays the role of her guardian angel and finds ways to bring a sense of retribution to her life. The movie does a great job addressing societal hypocrisies, how the neighbors change their tune as soon as Ash is seen with him, the fake activists and his so called "respected" father and his mother too. Sonali's "grand entry" and that bizarre song of hers with Anil was the corniest part of the movie for me. 😆
I'd never compare this movie with that crapfest Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hai.

IKR! - Kajol's character was extremely nauseating in that one!
While this movie was legit gold barring the whole cringefest side storyline of Mutthu and his affair with his wife trying to knock some sense in him. Yikes - Can you imagine a movie with a concept so great sheding light on victims, their innocence and their right to live, there's an extra affair comic nonsense in the parallel!
Other than that Aish and Anil's storyline was the heart of this show. Anil's character was a fresh breathe of air back in the time of hero worshipping!

Dil ne jise apna kahan with salman and preity lol. That was so nonsensical as if a persons physical heart is what made him fall in love lol
Did they show it that she fell in love due to the heart? Watched the original Return to Me. That one showed it was serendipitous.

Yeh they made it very obvious in the movie how she fells on love because of the "heart" - She even makes a Hospital based project ditto with same vision as that of Preity's dream! 🤣

Nauseating is the perfect word to describe what I felt for Kajol in that movie. The whole concept of marrying a "bad boy" to change him into a saint and then some lame incorporation of pati is your parmeshwar no matter how fake the marriage is and how much of a moron the pati is, makes me wanna puke.
Coming back to HDAPH, I'd totally forgotten about those weird sub-stories of neighbors.😆 That was definitely ridiculous! They probably wanted to add some filler scenes with humor but it could have been anything! They must have been out of their minds to think people would find that funny or entertaining. At least Sonali was a welcome addition and had some value to add. I loved Anil's role in the movie, give me a call if you know someone like him in real. 😆

Such an outdated concept of changing "bad boys" to the epitome of goodness - And we still see such themes running in many movies and shows till now! 🤔
Some of those filler scenes were actually hilarious - Family used to love those scenes. We have laughed over it. And some of them are still comical except for the whole extra marital angle!
@Bold - LMFAO - Such gem of the guys are hard to find who not only talk but also walk the talk - His progressiveness and embracing Aish's character for who she was, also not compromising his values even when it came to his dad was so so inspiring and heart warming!
Yes let's use our binoculars or may be even a telescope for such men are rare species! 😆
Box office India declared the film Hit. Budget was 9 crore, grossed 36 crore.
