Sorry to jump in but I have recently started watching Mahabharat again and I am so upset with so many things we were told as a kid.
Karna was so out of place in so many places not to mention arrogant. Even though he was abandoned as a kid he did find a loving home and parents . He was morally corrupt. Karna relatively had it easy. He got a state.
I was all my childhood told that draupadi was the reason for Mahabharat and that women are the cause of evil. But she made a joke and she felt terrible about it . It was nothing bad. But she was dragged to the courts during her menstruation period and disrobed .
I mean... She again faces similar humiliation later during Agyat bas .
I don’t even want to comment on Yudhisthir .
Mahabharat was super unfair to Draupadi . 😖
Actually drapaudi never made a joke. That andhe ka putra andha comment is not part of the text. That was again brc chopra the first tv Mahabharata s creation
Another myth is sutputra comment which again is not part of most authentic version all of them point that karna fail to string the bow
What happened in dyut Sabha was a crime fair and square
The problem here is that no many have read the actual text because its very long and it takes a lot of time to read it and they blindly beileve whatever tv version feeds them. These production houses have alot of responsibility on them sadly they don't live up to them glorifying their favourite characters instead.
Tv shakuni = epic s karna. You can imagine how deeply rooted these misconceptions are when citation from the original text are termed as "other theories" and "disrespectful to the text"
Draupadi was a great lady. She was a very important political figure. An benevolent empress. The finance minister of indraprasth who ran an entire empire. Who was the first to wake up and last to go to sleep carrying tons of responsibilities on her shoulders.
How important she was can be gauged from a simple fact that the exile treaty that shakuni proposes consist of only two names yudhishtra and draupadi. The kauravas actually wanted her out of the political scenario because they know they can't win of she is still part of Aryavarth politics.
In dyut sabha she was the only person who spoke facts and stood up for what was right. She refuses to bow down saves both herself and her husband
She is one who always guides yudhishtra about his duties as an emperor.
There tons of citation throughout the epic that proves what an enigma she was. Do give a read sometimes. Links are posted above
None of the tv shows highlight any of these qualities.
They are more busy in glorifying a sexual predator like karna and "dharmraj" yudhishtra who presented his wife as a sexual object in assembly full of men. And latter asks her to put up with it when keechak assault her.
