what happened to Srividya Rajan, where is she now and why is there no article on her, rather everything is about Gunjan Saxena when both were the first Fl.Lt in IAF

Because she has voluntarily chosen not to speak about her heroics to glorify it and thinks it only as her duty.

It is the director, writer’s right to pen a story on any individual as they wish. Neither Sharan Sharma, screenwriter Nikhil Mehrotra or producer Karan Johar can be faulted for telling Gunjan Saxena’s heroic tale. What stunned us though was how till date NO ONE has approached Rajan to make a film on her. Well, let’s just say our bewilderment stems from the above fact but like a selfless Indian soldier, Rajan is not really looking at any biopic but is simply glad to have served her country.

“I was one among many people who fought in Kargil conflict. From Army and Airforce ,we lost many precious lives in that war. Many of them did much more than what we both (Gunjan and her) did during the operation. It’s sad to know that many deserving people have gone without even being noticed. I just feel that I did my duty and do not wish to glorify it,” said Rajan.

Rajan had served the Indian Air Force from 1994-2004. After retiring from the Indian Air Force, the Chemistry graduate worked as a Senior Project Manager in an IT-firm from 2006-2009. The lady then did her Business Management course from Indian Institute of Management – Bangalore in 2009. She then worked as an HR and training executive in the Pune-based firm Sri Aviation Solutions Pvt Ltd. Rajan lives in Ernakulam, Kerala.

While we respect Rajan’s choice to not speak of her heroics, but we hope someday, like Gunjan Saxena, we’d celebrate her valour in a another ‘Kargil girl’ story.

Maybe because they have bought the rights from the woman whose story they found was more interesting than others. No one can be blamed if Sreevidya herself does not want to speak about it. The film is a result of the research that started with NDTV's reprr during Kargil War in the 90s and you can see both Vidya and Gunjan there and Gunjan only speaking. That's the reason why we have more information about Gunjan than Vidya and a filmmaker is free to tell the story of any individual whose story they find interesting. Maybe Gunjan's relation with her father was more meaty content for a film, that's why.

Funny to call the movie, 'The Kargil Girl' then, whereas there were actually two Kargil Girls ...

How is it funny though to call it Kargil Girl when it based on just one of the two Kargil girls? The moniker was given to Gunjan by the media while they were covering her story.

Anandibai Joshi, Kadambini Ganguly and Rukmabai became the first female physicians of India at the same time while graduating from different places, does thay mean Anandibai can be called first female physician while Kadambini Ganguly cannot?

Same way even if Srividya and Gunjan both went to war together, they can still be called India's first combat pilot in the kargil war independently, nothing wrong in that.

With every interview I read about Gunjan, Sreevidya, Namrita and other short comissioned pilots, I just feel how wonderful it would've been if they were PCs at that time, they could've reached such amazing heights and served so much more for the country. They would've been in such big positions in the IAF now. Absolutely sad and unfair that they had to give up their dreams so early on and choose other professions. Gunjan became a housewife, look at what Sreevidya is doing now. Not looking down upon any occupation at all including that of a housewife but these women went to war! They are not supposed to do IT and stuff yaar after fighting for the country! So glad we have PCs now. All these women and their struggle have paved way for the upcoming generation to have things comparatively easy.

Controversy is part of the movie script now. I think we should be allowed to talk about it.What is the big deal? Why so many restrictions?
