Kareena is smart, she either does movies with big name actors who deliver hits or work with top directors who are giving hits. You can’t compare her to vidya who has given solo hits. But Kareena used to have a horrible attitude, now I feel like she changed for the better. Her sis karishma seems nice. But Kareena is fun to watch with her expressions and overacting style. As for connections, hey, she built those over time as well. She was pretty much tossed out during her 2003-2006 years, doing smaller films and item songs, shunned by Dharma and YRF. She gained her success and goodwill after striking success with Jab We Met. A film that was so low budget, it used toy trains for visuals effects. After JWM and meeting Saif, all those connections and Khans came running back to her. Well, good for her. She earned it.

1) Most impt reason - she has connections in BW, karan johar namely is good friends with her

2) She used PR to hype herself from first movie - it helps having a elder sis who knows how to attract media attention

3) Many BW insiders called her best actress great actress from first movie (like they did to alia)

4) Less FB/twitter/instagram in first 6-7 years when her acting was pathetic and her attitude was bad - so no negativity (unlike alia)

5) Affair with shahid

6) Affair with saif and than marriage (imagine getting compared to angelina and pitt )

7) Fights with many actress and bizzare statements to get lime light

8) Using Taimur to stay in lime light

9) It helps to be family friends with karan johar, amir, akshay, SRK, salman etc all top actors.

Basically Kareena herself has very few movies where she has made hit on her own, may be jab we met that also was more for songs and now veere di wedding (semi hit)

She is also very smart in her movie choices.

I would never say this but her endorsement of Lakme is perfect.

With time Lakme has changed itself from brand with few shades and options with now huge variety pf products. Same has Kareena done. She changed herself completely from teen romances to vamp to mature roles. Kareena loves acting, though she can be a bit lazy sometimes.

She has Kapoor name,married to a guy who has know issues with her career. Her in-laws and step kids do not have seem to have extreme issues with her. She is well connected and speaks well to media.

Kareena never hid her baby bump with Tiamur like typical Indian women. She flaunted it like boss. Taimur became a celebrity the moment he was born. Now Kapoor sisters share a normal relations with Rishi Kapoor ( late) and family.
